Does anyone know of a garage in the North London area that will allow use of their lifting equipment (e.g. a four post ramp) or rent it out by the hour so that I can do a bit of remedial work on the underside of my 4200? Thanks, Peter.

Not sure if they would rent out their ramp, but I'll ask - I'm going in to a place in Golders Green sometime his week to get front pads and a new exhaust centre section fitted. Its a family run place place owned and operated by an Italian guy and his son, both love Italian cars.

I know those arches well. Is the company you're talking of the classic Fiat 500 specialist? The guy who looked after my Hawk Stratos has his place in one of the arches too. K&L Autos. I'm over there at least once a month.

He has a couple of 500's including one he races, so that sounds right. Sounds like a few options there!

Is this still trading?

if so could be a great way to meet up and do stuff prior to an Ace meet.
Don't bother with it. I think their original business plan that's on their website has failed. It's now rammed with cars that I think sit their for weeks and the place is now used by self employed mechanics who don't have premises of their own. The result is that you feel like you are walking into someone else's garage that is very messy.

When I say rammed with cars, I drove in, and wanted to drive out, but it was so full that proved difficult.

The mechanics that are there offer cheap MOTs. But they aren't a very friendly bunch.

I wouldn't bother.

I think Elliot's experience seems to be rather more up to date than mine, which was nearly 15 years ago.

The only issue I can see with renting a post lift is the HSE are going to have a field day. You might get lucky, though.
