Which series?
My Dad's got a mark 2, my mate currently has the mark 4, having previously had a 2 and 3.
My Dad actually speculated on the original mark 1 back in '89. Only had it month. Can't believe that was so long ago now.
It's a MK 2 Ltd Edition of only 500 , isola or something, I'm the third owner, the original owner had it 20 years from new

Give it a few weeks and I'll be disappointing builders at the lights when they look down expecting a woman and it's got a fat old man in it

This is the 6th MX5 I've owned, one of those cars you can chuck about thinking you're going fast then you look at the speedo and you're doing 56

Like a go-kart. Have enjoyed owning them, but don't see any in my future...unless I'm looking to track something again. But see: old man

Around 92-93 we went to florida, pre kids so just the two of us
Went to the car hire desk to see if I could blag an upgrade, nothing really grabbed me until she said Mazda Miata, result

So I signed all the paperwork, took the keys to the car park, opened the boot, looked at the luggage, nuts

We ended up with the soft cases in the boot, Mrs Wack has a small case between her legs with the big one on top of the open roof while she held the handle behind her head

Return journey was her in a taxi with the luggage, after all that the Miata was so disappointing, an automatic gearbox sucked all the fun out of it

Well, of course not.

I remember being in a Fiero, in the passenger seat in a rainstorm...driver tried to turn right at a light, and we just kept going straight...

Probably a good thing they didn't have one, the car hire place was on a storage site with a hut, we were queueing up, 4 lads in front who must've been 25, as that was the minimum rental age but looked younger in front

Got their car, exited the gate then drove down the wrong side of the road right in front of a cop car who'd been waiting near the gate

He stopped them the other side of the fence from the queue, got out of his car with his hand on his gun

I can't remember what he said but it wasn't very friendly and at the top of his voice, then he had the driver out of the car and gave him a ticket

Nobody else drove the wrong way down the road :D

More like a cop with a chip on his shoulder, he was ****** off and wanted to make someone else as ****** off as he was.

I read about right turn on red, first time I was in a position to do it was on an empty road, I stopped not sure if it was legal because coming from the UK it just didn't feel right

Then to top it off a cop car rolled up behind me, I can remember thinking, oh **** off, so I went for it expecting blue lights and a siren but no he just overtook me.

Next problem was cars being ID'd as tourists by criminals, the guy at the Car rental told us not to hold a map up so I kept telling Mrs Wack to keep it down as we were in a convertible

We stopped at some lights and a minivan pulled alongside, the sliding door opened and this guy shouted if I knew the way to somewhere

Without thinking I shouted back, sorry I don't, we're tourists

That was it, Mrs Wack let rip, I've had this ******* map on the floor for a ******* week and the first guy that asks you tell him we're ******* tourists

Anyone planning any car changes this year?

After 8 years of the Ferrari 400i, my plan this year is to swap it for something else from the 1970-80 period.
Current contenders are:
Maserati Khamsin or Bora
Lamborghini Espada or Jarama
Aston Martin DBS V8 has an outside chance also.

Let the fun of the hunt begin!
Quick update.

I finally settled on an Aston Martin DBS V8 and have just bought a lovely example. And better still, with a little man-maths I’ve decided I can have this and still keep the Ferrari. It’s a win-win!

I’m itching to get back into a Granturismo, possibly summer time as I’ll need to sell the CLS63 AMG first.

The Fiat Coupé is a keeper and will continue to monitor 147GTA prices with a view to purchasing.
