Cambio corsa warning light

I've noticed over 3 (I believe) different journeys I'm getting an intermittent cambio corsa warning light.

It will flash on and off a few times, not flickering but it will come and go and when it does, I can't select a gear.

The gearbox has just had a fluid change, the clutch is only 15% worn and the rest of the time, it shifts perfectly. The F1 pump sounds fine when I open the door, doesn't sound like it's struggling, constant pitch tone etc

Originally I thought it was potentially still thinking I was in reverse (dodgy switch issue) so it wouldn't select a gear, but I had it during a normal drive today (coming to a stop).

Any ideas?

Cheers

It could be quite a lot of different things, you will really need to have the codes read.

I assume the box with a shifter icon in red? This is usually low hydraulic pressure warning.

Change the pump and relay first. You don’t need to bleed it if you remove the pump motor from the head and use the existing one. They never fail so ok to reuse. Scan the codes too, you never know it could be the brake pedal switch or the bonnet/door switch.

Yes that's the one.

I scanned the car when I was sorting my headlight issue, no codes and I'd seen the warning light previously, so nothing stored.

I mentioned to shiltech and they reckon low hydraulic pressure, they asked about the f1 pump noise and I said what I said on here.

They said it would be down to too much demand on the pump at that point in time (low pressure).

Given it seems to happen when braking, it could well be the brake pedal switch (happened during manoeuvring and or stopping).

Cheers

I'm guessing this is the F1 pump relay, if so, it's the old 5 pin style. This is directly above the battery isolation switch, you can see the black cover with 12v written on it.

You said the gearbox oil has been changed, but have you checked the fluid level in the F1 reservoir?

I've literally just had it fully serviced by a specialist, but I might well check anyway.

Trying to source a new relay as a starting point.

Relays ready to pickup, so let's hope that fixes it. Difficult to ascertain when it's such an intermittent fault.

Can't do any harm changing the relay anyway.

I'm thinking brake switch because the first time I saw it, I'd had to slam on the anchors.

Swapped out the relay successfully. It looks old, some corrosion on one or two of the pins.

Got scrapes on my fingers to show the battle I had taking it out lol

You got lucky. I would plan to change your pump soon if it’s not been done in the last 10 years 50k miles.

I'm going to get hold of an F1 pump.

Has it solved your issue?

I've not been out for a spin yet, only just got back home from my work trip.

I'll pop out over the next couple of days. With it being intermittent I won't be able to tell until after a few drives.

The relay certainly looks like it needed changing.
