Hey ho, it's been a while, but does anyone know this car?
I've still got the QP, but a friend of a friend is interested in this...

RX08 BFJ
Nero Carbonio GT

I know if I search there will be plenty of things to look out for, but is there a greatest hits of moody things to keep an eye out for?

Thanks

Subframe, subframe….SUBFRAME.

Upper front wishbone triangle box section. And poke here and see if it goes through the two recesses either side of that bolt tube, that’s subframe out:

It will also be pre variator mod so rattle on start up is another one and history as to it being done.

Cam covers leaking down the back onto cats (white puff on startup)

Any electrical engine issues check under the fuse box in engine for rodent attack.

Then your into all the stuff you can see, front bushes, shock bushes, cracked springs, cracked coolant tank, AC pump pulley wobble, brakes, pealing trim, NIT slow to start/white screen, dash lights, sticky buttons….

For once I can help. This was mine until early 2021 (85k ish miles).

I traded in to Kerridges (now closed) in Needham Market.

At the point I traded it in (I made them aware)
Variators needed doing.
Something was 'off' with the power steering - varying amounts of power
Damage to middle rear seat
Cam covers were leaking (burning smell in cabin)

Rear skyhooks were replaced during my ownership (one had split and was leaking) and wheels were refurbed

I believe it has been remapped by DMS.

It has an X pipe on it.

During my ownership (not withstanding issues above) it was a great car (gave me less grief than my 2013 one that's for certain!)

DM me anything specific

Cheers Srpout & Conaero I knew subframes were something to look at, but great to have a photo to help.

Sprout, that is just the ticket, I'll pass this on to my friend.

Power steering:

Pull back the gaiters and look for pas fluid, if dry then the PAS pump will be the culprit. Ghibli is the same albeit different part numbers and half the price, they are at it again!

So basically Maserati are making the fleet aimed Ghibli cheaper to maintain and shafting the GT owner for the same part
