We need to keep an eye on numbers for this. It's great to have lots of cars available, but we only have a very limited number of track passes at any one time. If we're over-subscribed for cars it may be less enjoyable with less laps. Probably worth doing a recount at this stage (there are some names on the list I'm sure aren't going) and looking at sessions and number of cars we can have on track as well as how much driving everyone wants to do. It was very well organised last year, I think we should stick to the same recipe.

How many were on last year. I'm happy to do two session like I did last year or even three at a push. We need to look at numbers of each car as there were times when there we cars sat there which no one wanted to go out in. You kept saying we need the GTS and GS on the gate to get the punters in so maybe we should aim to have a nice selection at any given time ie 4200, GS, GTS and something quirky like the Atom and Damo's AMG.

We tried for 30 last year - experience tells us that with 30 cars booked, we won't get 30 turn up...

The slots were planned for those 30, so drivers certainly got more than the advertised laps!!

It was set up for 6 cars (we get 6 passes) on track for 30 minutes stints, which with ~6 hours of track time available meant each car was allocated at least 3 stints, or around 2 hours of driving, plus the wish rides at lunchtime. I guarantee that the drivers who want to do more will be able to drive it, since there will be some cars only doing short sessions.

Andy has a splendidly simple Excel sheet that he loves putting all the names into :) Keeps him quiet anyway... :D

Yep I reckon aim for 30 names (only 2 to go) but there will no doubt be some people cancelling and or cars pulling out before then.

What *are* the wish rides?

Empty track (during lunch break but after the air show) when a few selected cars from each gate move up to No.1 gate and take really sick/terminal kids on laps to suit their requirements, some have gas bottles or walking frames/wheel chairs etc. To transfer from so patience loading them, ask what they want and deliver a fun lap or two for them. Personally I have done them three times and it has been truly rewarding, last year I had a tiny brave young girl, maybe 7 or 8 her brother said just go as fast as you can, she wants to be scared! She just sat there and giggled the whole time, demanded a second lap and then was lifted out without saying a word just chuckling and smiling.

Ahhh I thought they looked for people that can *drive* :)

C

They generally choose cars that stand out a bit, definitely not based on driver ability. Some of the kids don't want to go fast at all. I've hadmthemhonour of doing this a couple of times and it's quite emotional to speak with these kids and their families and understand how they manage some truly unimaginable circumstances. One little lad didn't want me to go fast so I asked him how fast he was comfortable with -'he leaned over and looked at the speedo and said "20?". I said the car couldn't go that slow around the track, but kept to the right hand side with my indicator on doing about 50 the whole way round!
