I am enjoying the scantily clad women and thoughts on cheese.
They are important to life and living...I am enjoying the scantily clad women and thoughts on cheese.
More reason to break it up a little. Eggs in one basket and all. No one organisation or network should be too big. It is often deemed as anti competitive and difficult to manage.
I think we have too many too large organisations and networks these days. There is benefits and efficiencies from economies of scale do sure. However once you go beyond that you have gone too far and it becomes difficult to manage and more inneficient.
Finding the sweet spot a balance is hard but certainly worthwhile and rewarding.
Yep couldn’t agree with this more. A 50million market to a 500million market and who is also ratifying trade deals with the rest of the world, now what’s more attractive to trade with? There is no better deal to be had than the one we currently and already have. It seems that “they didn’t need us more than we needed them” and no sign of the “German car industry leveraging or countenancing the EU to do what we want”, yep “the EU haven’t blinked” and nope there is no “11th hour of crumbling to our demands”. It seems that this isn’t “The easiest deal in history” oops!!! Oh and there may or may not be a short extension and oh yes we always had paliamentary sovereignty. But we have a positive in the restricted freedom of movement (and ours of course). No Brexit anyone??This is the thing, maybe I don't get it. People are seeing that trading with the EU, is trading with one single entity.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
If 60% of exports go to the EU, we are not saying the go to one place. Lets say Brussels. They go to countless different place.
It's like saying you trade with Africa. When the reality is whatever you sell, it goes to South Africa, Nigeria, Sierra Leone etc etc etc.
The EU is an amalgamation of countries where trade is made easier because of the single tariffs and legislation alignments.
Why would you not want to trade in a region where everything is equal (in trading terms) surely this is a benefit to exporters? Turning your back on this is madness!
By all means trade more with the rest of the world, but turning your back on a huge single market made up of 27 countries is like cutting your nose off to spite your face.
Just continue to keep it friendly
As I understand it, the UK has a free trade agreement with all EU countries, Norway, Switzerland plus other non-EU countries with which the EU have free-trade deals, e.g. Singapore, Canada etc.Can I ask a question on trade. Under the current deal with the EU, are we free to trade with any other global country?
I was of the impression that the EU forbids this or is this not the case?
Matt, I have just found this about UK trade tariffs. Can I ask a question on trade. Under the current deal with the EU, are we free to trade with any other global country?

Parents
Matt, I have just found this about UK trade tariffs.
"With regard to tariffs, the UK trades with 24 countries and territories under WTO rules alone. With 68 others it has, as part of the EU, free trade agreements, either fully or partly in place, which all enable trade on better terms."
Have we run a poll on the forum?
To see who voted stay or leave.
And if we had a revote what would they vote second time around?

That's the point. WTO is full of its own restrictions. For example, whatever terms you give a country under WTO rules must be extended to ALL other WTO nations. This is why being part of the EU and having access to its trading relationships is so valuable.better terms
Yep...and anyone want to guess which is the one and only country in the world to trade exclusively on WTO rules?..........MauritaniaThat's the point. WTO is full of its own restrictions. I would vote leave if given a 2nd referendum. Can I ask another question. For sure a second vote would look to swing the leavers to remain, I get this but has anyone since the vote who voted remain swung to leave and what were the reasons?
Yeah but that place has sunshine dunnit, so if we trade to wto rools we'd get more sun wouldn't we...well that wot I wuz told by farageYep...and anyone want to guess which is the one and only country in the world to trade exclusively on WTO rules?..........Mauritania
Should we set our sights a little higher?
