Brexit Deal

This is what's misunderstood about FoM. It's not just the right to move to France and become resident there, but also to drive to Spain to do a short contract there. There are many Brits living in small countries like Luxembourg and Belgium - who currently travel all over Europe with their work - who are going to be land-locked after Brexit. They will be unemployable.

Post-Brexit, unless you can quickly get French nationality, I don't have much optimism for your position. Why would your employer deal with the hassle of getting a Spanish visa and work permit for you when he can send a French employee more easily?
Also I work via my own Ltd, and all work visas in EU now are tied to employer, so short term contacts are out, since your own Ltd can't apply for a (say) German Work Permit cos it doesn't fulfil the criteria for sponsorship of German (or any) work visas.....

From the 100% accurate Wikipedia...

"The Kingdom of Ireland was a client state of England and then of Great Britain that existed from 1542 until 1800.

It was ruled by the monarchs of England and then of Great Britain in Personal Union with their other realms."

I thought I'd read Britain/England had rules over Ireland for 800 years prior to 1922.....

Still going for the Pedantcy of SM......

Still a Kingdom though ;)

What do I win? What do I win? :p

Bridgewater canal was late 18th Century, not sure if the navvies worked on that one, but the Manchester Canal was 19th Century and they definitely worked on that. Anyway I consider myself an immigrant, the Southerners need a Northerner to help maintain their navaids...

It is the Northern way, infiltrate and change from within, it is also necessary to share Northern genes as the Southern ones are a bit soft and need some toughness to allow them to survive.

Interesting but the company I'm doing this for and I did lots for them before going to NZ need people like me to do the work.
I can even be paid in Sterling or Euros.

I'm set up as self employed here in France and as a fully skilled and qualified mechanic they are happy to have me here as there is a shortage of mechanics.
I'm aiming to be a resident with my French partner here and again all seems doable.

I guess if people don't want to pay the £7 visa then they can all go to Blackpool and the Canaries will go bust. On the other hand how do all those people coming from the Middle East get all the way through to Calais without a visa??

We must do right by Theresa, and settle this in the traditional Highland way, bear-breasted and each carrying an eight-pound baby.

I can't tonight as I promised Mr McNulty I'd shift a particularly difficult bloater for him.....

Another thing, why is May banging on about removing FoM when the Referendum doesn't mention any specifics?

So it's ok to do that but not ok to consider changing opinions since 2016?

Freedom of Movement and Falafels....You'ed be amazed on how far you would get on one of those! Anytime you're in Hampshire I'd love to rustle you up a shawarma and a Falafel. Anytime and my treat!!

Erm..because a withdrawal agreement says they will...!
If this deal gets passed ( IF! ), failure on the part of the EU to honour it and negotiate a deal proper ,will result in our leaving with no deal.
I dont see why that's so difficult to grasp...
Jesus, I thought I’d seen it all.
The legal position is we can’t as they can hold us INDEFINITELY in the backstop.thats the whole ******* point.....we become Europe’s bitches and May as well adopt the Euro.

Turn the poorly worded referendum question on itself, that's my solution, Swiss/Norway EFTA type thing.

Should the UK leave the EU?

Yes, ticked.

No mention that we joined EFTA same day.....

We'd have FoM etc, but the the referendum question didn't qualify anything about that.
