Has anyone owned one? Been toying with the idea of one as a general run about to use when home, and travel 60 miles to work each month or so. Have done some research so know about 2.2 chains, etc. My thinking, good looks, sort of Maserati ties, GM parts so availability should be ok. Man maths obviously says V6 as mpg not an issue. Thoughts anyone?

Had a 3.2V6 when they first came out. Lovely to look at, but anodyne to drive. Too heavy and the engine just didn't do it for me. It was well made, but not enough of an event for me. The interior was the same as the 159. To sum it up I went back and bought a 916 GTV 3.0.

However stick in the Maserati V8 and create the Brera GTA and I would have been a happy bear:

This is exactly what Felice told me when I was considering waiting another 'cycle' before getting the 4200. He said if I went from a 3.2 GT to the Brera, I'd hate it. Although the Pro-drive is 'better' it's just not better enough.

But I've never driven one.

I had a 2.4, lovely looking car, but you certainly feel the weight

I much preferred the drive of my Alfa GT (1.9 and 3.2 equally good)

As above great looking cars but not a patch on the GT as a drivers car. That GM V6 just misses the point completely give me a good old Busso everyday

Have no experience of the brera, beautifully sculpted I agree. Another vote for the experience of the GT, such a balanced car and the smoker is one of the best smoking engines available IMO.

I have a 2.4 diesel....great looking car and lovely to be in but as above....to heavy up front blunts performance and you feel it in the handling....but if its just as an everyday car and not for fun they are fine.......Definitely a missed opportunity by Alfa...

Interested in buying one, but i got the Mito instead.
From what i searched around i believe that the best engine is the 1750 TBI. Light engine and with the single ecu upgrade you will get faster than the 3.2, pluse it weights less due to the engine and the AWD missing.

Never driven one but didn't they make A 1750 Tbi instead of the v6 just before the range was discontinued and this
Is the best one to buy same power as b6 but lighter.

I've got two bussos, just need a daily driver. I'll go and try a couple of cheap ones.

You want cheap mine will be up for sale after I get back from holiday but it needs work. I bought it as a project but now I have a company car just never got around to it. Needs paint on bonnet, front bumper and side sills, wheel refurb and driver seat stitched. When I had quotes for the work it was around £1000 for it all. But that will be factored into the asking price as will only want 3k for her. Or perhaps I need to keep her and turn her into a track car......mentioned that to Liz but fell on deaf ears...something to do with needing new windows for the house.

Thanks Dem......It will have a new MOT when I come back from holiday....Just the tidying up of the paint wheels etc that someone will need to do...Plus it only has 71k on the clock.

That 1750 engine is a stonker but boy can it eat fuel, pushing on you will be Maser territory very quickly
