So what causes it on the Ghibli then? I have the S brakes (well I have an S) but it seems to be manifesting itself on occasion.

TIA

My brake judder, with brand new uprated Zep discs & pads, turned out to be a buckled front alloy.

Past experience with brake judder has taught me to check wheel balance and alignment prior to jumping down the replace disk and pad route

Sticking pistons
Pads breaking up
Bent wheel (if you are Gaz)
Damaged tyre
Wheel balance
Warped discs
Failing bushes

Or any combination of the above. Helpful I know.

When you say occasionally. Braking hard? When hot? Could it just be the road surface?

So to be clear this is something the Ghibli is known to suffer from. I know the 'normal' reasons. Was wondering what the 'special' reason might be. Although S rated breaks are supposed to be immune...

Nope. Comes and goes. Wondering about material transfer.

Oy! Two bent wheels if you don't mind.

I used to have this issue with my Mitsubishi. Drove me absolutely insane, never fully diagnosed although it went away after I rebuilt the calipers. Even though I'm face value there was no issue with them and the pistons moved relatively freely.

So on light applications of the brakes rather than heavy? I’d be looking at the pistons.

When the disks are hot or cold? I got judder one time only after they had been warmed up a bit ;)
All problems solved with complete replacement of disks, pads, a bearing or two, new wishbones, various bushes and rebalancing, unbending and realigning the wheels!

It can happen hot or cold.

Rears have 'just' been replaced, but it was happening before. In fact I can pretty much pinpoint it started in the terrible traffic down to Gatwick in October.

If the rears were bad you would feel it through the pedal.
Fronts affect steering and pedal if really bad but as EB has said can be other items too.

I bought this piece of kit from Brembo purely for diagnosing these issues.
Money well spent and you would be surprised how many Garages don't have something similar.IMG_20240201_110202.jpgIMG_20240201_110340.jpg

I had a lot of judder on a previous car and it was that one of the rear calipers had seized caliper pins that the caliper slides on. It unbalanced braking force at certain speeds and braking forces and caused the front to vibrate as the weight transferred back to front. Under heavy braking it was okayish.

@Zep can this be moved? No idea why it ended up here (apart from user error)

Talking to my mechanic last night, he feels new pads and make sure everything is moving OK is the first step
