Boost Valve

Sounds like it could be that the Kaiser valve has failed, allowing boost pressure to fill the brake servo and then blowing past the seal in to the car. The valve is a three way valve behind the inlet manifold on the left hand side.

Part number 377493347.

Guy on other forum has something similar so might be worth dropping him a mail to see how he resolved it.

Hi Phil,

I thought about the Kaiser valve.. but the fact I can't hear the noises when "on boost" and accelerating is what made me dismiss it. I guess it doesn't hurt to have a look at it and see if can find anything wrong. Will go and try taking it out now...

Maybe I'm missing something here.. but how does the Kaiser valve failure let boost pressure into the brake system?.. The earlier cars had no Kaiser valve at all and were connected straight to the plenum.. so did they have some kind of one way built into them!?.... The other pipe goes to the air intake which would of course be creating a vacuum.. hmm.. confused...

Well I've got it off and blown through it and the one way valve is working as expected.. the engine end can suck through it and the air filter end too.. I can not blow from engine to brake cylinder when the air box hole is blocked.

So I think we can cross that one off the list. Was a bit of a b*gger to get out too!

There was quite a "woosh" from the brake cylinder when I disconnected the pipe to the Kaiser valve.. I'm guessing if it was under vacuum that was just air rushing in??

Cheers
