I came across this footage and it's very enjoyable too.
The Volkswagen Golf was only 1293cc on Weber 45's they tried to ban it as it was beating the above 2 liter class.

I was there , got there really early , so early they hadn't set up any of the pay booths or fencing so me and 4 of my mates had a free day out

I was there too. My mates dad was one of the ‘bigwigs’ at Central Mosque. Watched it from there. Was brilliant.

Because we'd got in free and the grass was getting hard i suggested going in the grandstand so somebody went and asked , it was over 35 years ago so I could be wrong but I think it was £100 each so we stayed on the grass

They still had the curbing just up from the Central Mosque until about 5 years ago.

What you been up to Tim hope you're having a good Summer :)
But manic really. Racing, fixing cars, a week looking after the in-laws and a week holiday in Northumberland. Silverstone this weekend which is looking like a bit of a nightmare to be honest but we’ll see.

How’s the Jaaaaag?

We did a feature on the Birmingham Superprix for Modern Classics. Involved shooting an M3 and an RS500 around the circuit route at 3/5am on a Sunday morning (so still Saturday night).
Aside from the drunks, addicts, homeless, weirdos, most memorably I nearly got goaded into a fight in a petrol station.

Birmingham born and bred mate. I will have you know we have non of that here. What you are referring to are known as Brummies. Lol. It has got a lot worse round by the circuit now. The homeless people play chicken run with the traffic but they seemed to have moved away the windscreen washing ladies. Inner city turf wars.

My favourite story from the Superprix days is that the local prostitutes were upset at the loss of trade

They were literally sitting in the windows practically across the road (Cheddar Road) from the circuit. It was like Amsterdam on that road. I had a business not far from there (a Nursing Home) on the Pershore Rd. Feckless Birmingham City Council should have made the pit stop on Cheddar Road instead of Bristol Street Motors. Birmingham would have had the greatest road race ever. Monaco No thanks.
