Bill Mcgrath service

Hi

Just a little report on my recent experience at McGraths

I put the 3200 in for a cambelt service with McGraths last week - I have to say that I can completely recommend them, professional and friendly start to finish.

I arrived at Claggy Road on a (unlike the road name) bright and sunny Wednesday morning for my beloved 3200s Cambelt service, parking up next to such beautiful (and pristine) vehicles such as the 3500 and Khamsin, I knew this is very special place. Upon entering the workshop I was greeted with the amazing sight of some classic and more recent Maseratis filling the cavernous workshops ready to be worked on/restored - it was indeed a full garage which must surely show how good they are.
I was then greeted by Claire who was very friendly and helpful and ran through what I was going to have done to the car and noted down anything extra that I wanted them to have a look at. In my case my oil pressure gauge had gone a bit bananas a couple of days before so wanted that to be looked at as well though suspected it was a faulty sensor after having seen the same/similar things happen in the vintage aircraft I fly.
Once I had cleared the car out, handed the keys over and spoke with Paul, who was doing the work, I was given a lift to the nearest train station (Harpenden) which was Ideal as I was going into central London anyway.
After a few hours Claire called to advise Paul had test driven the car and confirmed that the readings were as described and advised replacing the part involved and monitor after that. Those of you with 3200s will know that if the same/similar readings come up again then I would have a bit more of a problem, I of course went ahead and had the part replaced as I'd rather find out if there was a problem sooner rather than later.
The next call I got from Claire was on Thursday afternoon to advise that my car was all ready to collect so I stopped by on the Friday (and was collected from the train station by one of the mechanics) to find my car outside, ready and waiting gleaming away after having been valeted. I treaded the stairs up to the office and sunk into the sumptuous leather seats they have in the waiting area. I was presented with an itemised bill and an inspection report on the car (something they do as part of any work they carry out) which had a couple of recommendations as to what I would need to do to the car in the future.
All in all I left a very happy (and relieved) owner/customer - they may not be the cheapest but the work they do appears to be of a very high standard by very knowledgeable people.
Oh and oil pressure appears to be spot on at the moment

Chippiepilot....could you give us an indication of overall cost, or of just the main service or indeed did they price match etc?

I think i paid about £1400-1500 for similar service elsewhere. No pressure sender for me, but did have repair to wastegate actuator (fractured arm was splinted).

Higher or lower? :D

Good to see proper fluids used, when spending this much why save a few bob on any alternative. Do you have mozarella or dairylea on your pizza?

Its so rewarding to see one of the foremost indie names Bill Mcgraths who were renowned for having the expertise on the older models, back now servicing the entire Maserati range once again , great news for owners just north of the M25 and by recent accounts doing a fine job too

I think they should be invited to advertise here (free of charge). Thats if they have not already been asked. A trusted name too for biturbos and classic Maserati.

Cool

Mods - what do I need to do to enable my profile image as an avatar on each post? Assume I am being dim and will look again later.
