Best battery for a Ghibli II?

Turns out the wrong size / model battery has been fitted to my Ghibli GT at some point and I wondered if anyone here with experience of this car could recommend a replacement that has served them well? Thanks in advance.

I would just look for the best Cold Cranking rating etc for that given size.

Then go for a premium battery from a brand name.

Bosch Silverline for example... Or Yuasa or many others.

A completely different car but my Yuasa gave up the ghost after less than a year and I have a Bosch Silverline on board now with no issues to date

Well, I got a "Type 075 Varta Silver D15 Heavy Duty Car Battery 63AH - 5 year warranty" from the battery megastore in 2013, so far so good.
I can't remember how I came to that selection - it may have been the up to date version of what was in the car already, or it may have been an up to date version of the Maserati battery...

I just bought a Bosch Silver Plus S5 (63Ah, 610 CCA) after the Global & Yuasa one died (don't know how many years it lasted). But I've used a Type 013 — 242 x 175 x 190 because that was the size I've had and it fit perfectly. Probably a 278 L would fit as well. Which one is the original size?

Ah 096, that is one of the most common sizes for a lot of cars.

Just put one in my 4200. Not a job for someone with hands my size! They're quite large!
As are my hands! Or rather what's left of then after I removed a load of skin from them fitting it!

I don't think they make is that important - these cars don't get driven that often, and that is the biggest killer.

Oh and trackers, I have one on another rarely used car and it destroys batteries.

You need to get a battery-maintainer to trickle charge the car.

Or an isolator.

Or a switchout on the main cell, the keep the tracker & alarm running from a 2nd smaller cell. (sorry- I'm getting carried away!)

interestingly, a few years ago, I bought a battery from my main dealer- got it home to fit in the car and it was too big! The dealer specs were wrong!

Plus, they gave me a 'Banner' cell- it lasted a year...

Yeah, I'm using a trickle charger too, a Ctek MXS 5.0. They are the OEM suppliers of the major brands (Maserati too). This winter I forgot to attach it, that's how my battery died.

Crikey- I'd try not to do a 'season' without starting the car! Even if it is off the road.

A month, maybe...

Back to topic though- you can get into a bit of trouble with this though- the cell the garage gave me WAS going to go in, if I pressed it into the extremes of the space available- one corner was hard onto the outer rear wing skin- I could imagine myself going over a bump and- DENT! From the inside out!

Arguably the 2 litre cars have a smaller cold cranking requirement than the 2.8s but I don't think it's accounted for by the factory.

Did you get a resolve on this general piffle??

Hi ZAM, Emblem in Poole confirmed that a 096 Bosch Silver would be ideal, so that's the one I'm going for as the car is currently with them.

Visit this site and occasionally, have a desire for a Ghibli 2, unfortunately the bank balance does not have the same desire at the moment :frusty6:

However batteries are my "thing", if you haven't managed to resolve then let me know, can either help you with a replacement or advise you on specifications etc, we are based in Surbiton .
