So my battery died the other day, tried charging it but it's gone...

Anyone here use an Optima battery in their car?Had one many years ago and was very impressed,so i thought it might
be a good replacement in the GS.
Any thoughts??

Bosch batteries are quite good, altough a bit pricier than alternatives.

I have Bosch Silver fitted to all my cars.
Optima and other specialist batteries are good, but are they really needed?
....Unless you are planning in fitting an electric winch to the front on your car with a high level light bar, or a massive woofer in the boot!

:D No winch or anything like that...just thought it might be a good idea as they deliver more Power than other batteries when starting up.

True, but a properly specified 'normal' battery turns over just fine, so save the money!
Unless your lower winter temperatures in Sweden can be an issue?

I looked at the S6 AGM, however compared to the S5:

Only 3 years guarantee...the S5 has 5
70Ah...the S5 has 77Ah
CCA760...the S5 has 780

Go figure! The S5 is a third cheaper too.

You are, of course, correct. However, the important thing about the S6 is that it is an AGM so it wont spill if it gets turned over for any reason and it wont vent fumes. This is really important for the 360/F430 as the battery is inside the cabin (underneath the passenger footrest).

The 4200 battery is in the boot so there's less risk to your health if the battery did spill/vent.

Thank You for all your informative replies, the Winter is not an issue as it sits in the garage until spring.

Just to update here a little.

I've just had a look about for a new battery and found that that link provided by Voicey (thanks,) can be improved upon by also searching for "car parts for less promo code". I've now got the code, entered it and got another £10 off. The 096 S5 Bosch battery is now showing up at £78.99! :) Happy days.
