I used a Bosch S5 096 on my 3200 and it was fantastic, they come with a 5 year warranty too. The jump starting doesn't do the car any favours and the cold weather will kill off any life that your battery might have had so get it swapped out asap!

I bought a halfrauds c£100, 5 year guarantee, when the starter packed up I took the battery back to Halfords with the receipt, they checked it, gave it a clean bill of health, then exchanged it for a new one with another 5 years guarantee - no questions asked.

The starter was completely buggered, 12000 volts wouldn't have turned it.

Yah that is what I have fitted.
In fact when I looked into it, the more expensive AGM S6 had less warranty, 3 instead of 5 years I think, and less capacity.

Yuasa for Maserati's.

The Yuasa in my GTS lasted 6 months, and that was in the summer! Maybe I was just unlucky, but I changed it for a Bosch as recommended by Mr Crud on here and have never looked back

Bosch S5 096 in mine too. No problems in the last 4 1/2 years (apart from the constant need to keep it charged) including a few recovery charges from flat. Anybody using a gel battery? I was thinking of trying that next time.

The main advantage of the gel battery is that in case of crash/rupture they don't leak like liquid acid does.
This could be useful in our cars as they are located in the rear and a leak there will be a pain to clean up and most likely result in Long term corrosion.

They are also supposed to be more resilient to deep discharges but that is of little interest in automotive use, except in BMW that have a weird power management system where the alternator is sometimes not producing energy to charge the battery and the eletrics in the car run on battery power during this time.
They call it efficient dynamics to reduce drag on the engine caused by the alternator.
