Back seats......why?!

I read the S was better to go for but then the starting price moves up a notch. Then you startling looking at later facelift/MK2 cars then the price jumps again. Not such a cheap car then.

Is the early non-s so bad?

No, it’s not bad. In fact, it’s very good. The steering, handling, composure and comfort are all sublime. For the money, I doubt there is a better handling factory 2+2 car out there. But I just feel it lacks power for the car it was intended to be, ie Lotus’ 911 beater. The S goes a long way to correcting that and adds a bit more noise to the mix too. The later cars are true supercars

say they can work with small children.

This might have been the case before the '80s but nowadays the law requires children under 135 cm to be in an approved child seat. Looking at this photo these don't have isofix points so probably not designed to work with a child seat.

In a few year time if there still around, that's where they could put the battery!

Ferrari 456 vs 550

Similar length cars but one gets rear seats which I believe are useable ? And the 550 gets the odd rear shelf.

We have an r129 sl with a dodgy seat switch in the passenger side, rear passenger has either loads of room or none !
