Popped up to see Aldous and Harvey at AV Engineering in Ashford today for them to look at resetting my clutch parameters.

Even though I wasn't "booked in" they were happy to chat "car" and spend some time with me driving and getting the clutch setup "just so". Couldn't have made me feel more welcome.

Can heartily recommend them.. another great independent for us Maserati (and Ferrari) owners to take our temperamental beasts to!

What sort of mileage has the clutch done, and under what circumstances would you suggest doing it?

Mine has only done about 6k but wasn't set up properly when it was last changed, that's the only reason I had it done.

Cheers Mark
Would you recommend having it done on a used car at all, or once its set up its good for the life of the clutch?

Once set up properly it should be good for the life of the clutch, but it probably wouldn't hurt to have checked each service.

The problem is knowing whether it's been done properly. It's only a 30 minute job so I would get it done just for peace of mind.

Cheers

Mine was fitted by a well regarded indie and still wasn't set up correctly (was showing over 100% worn!!!). Mistakes happen.. considering its a few minutes work it's best to get it checked.

No, the one currently for sale has at Richard Grace’s has just had a new clutch, but mine was apparently only 37% worn when i got it.
