Auditorium / Becker intermittent sound in 2007 GS

Dear All

My sound system started clicking and popping when first fired up a week or so ago, now silent apart from some sound from rears when vol turned right up. Head unit seems ok with all functions working.

I get the feeling its the connections at the back of the Backer cascade head unit, or connections on the amp

First question, how I get hold of a tool to remove the becker cascade unit, and is there a risk of damaging the Cf surround?

If its not the head unit contacts, where is the amp, and how best to check the contacts

I took mine out to wire in a Becker iPod cable. I bought the Becker tools off eBay, however it turned out there was no metal cage around the stereo. Instead the best way was to use an Allen key gently to undo the bolts on the alu switch panel underneath, lift it back a few cm and then push in the spring clips on each side of the stereo with fingers. Then it came out very easily. Usual plugs etc on back.

Quick update

Car was in for a service and so I asked the engineers to look at the head / unit and amp

New amp connected....all well, so it looks like a the amp has gone

Rather than bend over and take it like a man I'm going to try and get the amp fixed, local ICE place in Oxford do a repair service for amps that seems reasonable

I hope its not a digital amp, hopefully its something that can be fixed easily

I would of thought it is a simple amp Maserati are not known for using the latest electrical components, hence the bridge Cann unit

Delivered quickly, and fitted yesterday...all is now well

Fitting it was a PITA

David seems a good source for parts, found his name on the forum after a search...thanks chaps
