Hi All,
New to the Forum but have owned my AC for nearly a year (3rd owner) - however mine is of course LHD. Just wanted to share though that it was a customized AC order (quite a common event over here in the middle east!) - so the earlier comment around the three standard colours is correct - but a Maserati customer gets what a Measerati customer wants :)!, so mine is Indiannapolis red with the beige interior - completely non-standard - but confirmed by Maserati as a genuine AC. Just hunting out what number it is from the 250... and would love to know what it's worth!

Hi, and welcome to the forum!

The three colour options rule was adhered to in the UK, but as you say - elsewhere Maserati was less rigid....which I think is a shame to be honest. Incidentally, you say you'd love to know what it's worth - but if you bought the car less than a year ago, surely you have a fairly good idea?! I don't know what it's worth in the Abu Dhabi market but I would've thought it's perceived as a relatively old car over there given that there is some serious money spent on cars. Would be good to see some pics!

#9 is mine, 2002 Rosso Mondial manual. Had it since 10k miles (bought from Meridian) and now at nearly 100k. Brand new engine a while ago and just had a few thousand spent on cleaning up rear arches, getting rid of stone chips / parking dents and refurbishing the wheels so it still looks pretty much as new despite the mileage

Keep those engine replacement receipts they will become gold dust when sale time comes around , great to hear that a 3200 has reached those dizzy climes , credit to the present and past custodians , big welcome to the forum your experiences of driving servicing etc would be more than welcome ( almost mandatory ) so other future owners may draw upon your experiences now that our membership has vastly grown world wide , and if you have time a few pics would be good ,

look forward from hearing from you both in the near future

regards loz

Vulcan, why the new engine? Did the old one go bang or was it just worn out? It couls be a pointer for other leggy ACs.

Vulcan, its been a while.....welcome.

I beleive your new engine was as a result of endfloat wear, we both went through the same nightmare back in the MF.co.uk forum days.

Stuck with her then, fair play.

So, where have you been hiding, have you still been frequenting the old forum?

Matt is correct the engine was due to endfloat, it cost me just under£10k in the end as there were no used engines around at the time and I had to buy a new full engine on the crate. I took it into Fullbridge restorations recently for the bodywork tidy up and they did a perfect job and Roberto recently did a full service and belts for me. I originally bought the car for £35k a long time back and looking back at the huge pile of receipts it looks as if I have spent almost that much again just keeping it going. I cant bring myself to get rid of it but if I am honest they are a long way from being the greatest cars in the world. I recently bought a new 3.0 XF diesel and although it is limited to 155mph once it is on the move there really isn't much difference in acceleration between it and the 3200. The only problem with the Jag is that it is so boring, its supremely comfortable, ultra reliable and so easy to drive, all of which the 3200 is not. Taking out the 3200 is a bit of an event, its a manual so depending on how I or the car seem to feel on the day it can either be silky smooth or a frustrating series of transmission shunts (even after years of ownership) add to this the fact that my wife hates going in it because it has let us down on a number of important occasion and the end result is that it really is now just "something for the weekend" although I am going to take it to Berlin later this year, in the XF it would be classed as a trip but in the 3200 I am sure it will be a journey.

I do still use the other forum as well but a lot of the experience seems to be over here now so I will probably lurk a bit more

Sorry forgot to mention that the engine went a 56k mles, prior to that always fully serviced at a Maserati dealer in Essex. One thing to mention is that a lot of the 56k were London rush hour miles and another point is that the clutch was always problematic (very heavy and difficult to engage gears sometimes) so I was probably asking for trouble.

It's not unreliability, it's character! I too have have a big modern diesel that is probably better at crossing continents than my spyder but given the option I would take the maser, without question, every time. That's why we love them.

Character, that's what I tell myself every time I put my hand in my pocket.

The window drop on opening (initial drop on first microswitch) has now failed, the air con compressor is making an awful rumbling noise and the fan blower has developed an annoying buzz but after 7 years of ownership I am pretty used to these ups and downs. When the nice weather comes and driving becomes a pleasure once more I know that I will be just as enthusiastic about the car as ever.

I recently bought a used accelerometer from a breaker in Kent and he told me that he used to break high end Mercs but they were so reliable that the demand for parts just wasn't picking up as the cars got older...he now breaks just Maseratis! We got chatting and he said that the competition for buying insurance write off Maseratis was immense and was a European wide market with specialist breakers from places like Germany putting in winning bids and transporting the cars across Europe.

41 of 75

I used to own 41 of 75, acquired in 2002 second hand from Meridien Modena Y181 RTR. RHD Manual in Rosso with a black interior. Daily Driver and I did about 15,000 in the year I had it.

Engine had the end float issue, so a new block was provided and engine rebuilt under warranty.

Replaced late 2003 with a Spyder.

I will try and find a photo in the coming days.

Hope that fills a gap.
