Hi Everyone!

Just a bit of an update on my Maserati! Hope you like it.

I bought Number 20 Assetto Corsa now almost three years ago.

Back then the idea was, when I bought the car of fellow forum member Dem, to have one of the best Assetto Corsa's in the country.

So, whilst the car was overall in a generally good condition, a few things needed to be addressed. Some mechanical ones in the first couple of years that were absolutely necessary, and now, over the winter, the big one: to make sure the car looks as good as it can.

All work has been done by McGrath Maserati who, I think have done an excellent job.

And today was collection day after a 6 month stay for No20 at McGrath. This was the final stage to have the car as good as it can get.

I have outlined most of the work below.

All suspension arms have now been renewed. Some wishbones showed first signs of fatigue in the usual space so all were replaced, some of the shocks were replaced too.

The interior was re-done and repaired were needed, including a new leather dashboard. The original vinyl one was deformed, probably from standing in the sun.

The front grill has been re-chromed.

New rear side glass panels were installed as the old ones were scratched in places. (No idea how this happened...)

New original front windscreen was fitted as it had some stone chips on it. This had been done by a specialist fitter as the seal is no longer available and had to be carefully removed, and re-fitted.

And last, but by no means least, a full body respray in nero carbonio, obviously in the original colour. There were some imperfections on the bodywork that had been repaired in the past, plus some minor surface rust appeared under the rear wheel arches. So, to have the best outcome, a respray was the way to go. The job was done by the same people who do all of McGrath's restorations of older maserati.

All around new brake discs and pads, a new original maserati throttle pot and a fresh wax underbody seal finished it off.

I hope you like it! I'm definitely very pleased with the outcome.

Bossemaserati,
well done; it looks absolutely lovely.
I do like to see them being cared for like this and keeping in truly 'virgin' condition much as the designer wished.
Sometimes it is those small things which go to make the ownership of the car so much more fun. I know how proud I would feel.
I would like to wish you many more years enjoying the car; hope you have no thoughts of selling now!!!!

Wow - well done and no doubt that is a serious investment. Just try not to wrap her in cotton wool now and get out there and enjoy a fabulous car.

I always thought as well that the dash is leather, but according to McGrath it's vinyl. Will post some more detailed pictures later!

Maybe been previously replaced? Mine was leather and it had shrunk leaving a huge wrinkle across the top. New one leather too. Not to worry, your car looks stunning now look forward to seeing it at some point. :)

Thank you Allan! We should do a assetto Corsa gathering at some point. I wonder how many we could get together.
Anyway - thanks again.

Dash top is vinyl, dash center is leather around the vents, not sure what the airbag is.

As a rule of thumb, the bits you touch are leather and the bits you dont are vinyl, well, more so on the 4200, the 3200 were near all leather.

That looks stunning, so nice that you have lavished all that care on her, dread to think what it cost though, obviously a keeper with that level of investment.
