Every time an Assetto Corsa appears with anything other than the red/black/silver exterior and black/red trim interior the discussions start as to whether it is the real McCoy.

Just listed on Carsales in Australia is the following:

http://www.carsales.com.au/private/...4294965360 1216&num=15&silo=Stock&sort=~Price

Dark blue and grey interior?

It seems a very low price by Australian standards for an Assetto Corsa as well.

Can anyone tell from the VIN number provided in the listing?

Stephen

Hi Stephen,

The guy who was selling it Paul, reckons he had it for about 5 years and had leased it through BMW Finance, he was after 42k to pay them out and have a little left over, however as I have found out this was only half of the story. I'm not saying it was his fault, there are a few little issues with that AC.

First of all, the belts are horribly over due to be changed, the interior isn't the best, don't get me wrong, it's not bad, but still. It has a funny sorta smell to it too!

The biggest issue with the car is that the red key that is supplied, is infact empty......When I say this, upon opening the key to check the battery, there was nothing inside!

Having said that, it has a Tubi exhaust on it, and the mechanicals are generally pretty good. Has a slight ding in the drivers door, but nothing serious. It has the 5/10 aust delivered placard on the glove box and from my search and going through the history it is an AC.

Well I sure hope it is anyway as I just bought it.

red black and silver with the black , piped red, interior was the uk options of 75 ACs. Other countries ACs can be all colours and trim combos. All should have a No plaque though.

This is only true for the countries in which the AC was offered as a limited edition: the UK, Italy, Australia, Greece and Japan. In other countries such as Germany and the Netherlands, it was possible to order an AC with the Maser dealer but AC's in these countries did not come with a plaque.

The people at the factory in Modena were not able to provide an explanation why the AC was offered as a limited edition only in some countries and not in other. It probably had something to do with a Marketing strategy in these countries, in the way that the cars were believed to sell better as a limited edition in some countries but not in all, or something like that.

Also, see the following information which was obtained by a Danny from Spain some time ago which he received from Maserati last year (thank you Danny if you are a forum member?)

You are more than welcome and yes, I am a forum member, not from Spain but from the Netherlands. I purchased my AC in Spain though, but my AC was originally delivered in Germany.

Speaking of AC's and deviating colours: I don't think that this car was discussed here before but a white AC is rather unique!

That fellow has had that advertised going on for 3 years now.

Funny though I have tried to contact him to enquire about the car as that white is stunning! He never got back to me about it.

It is a shame though, it had priority in my garage. I'll settle with no. 5

I think it has been discussed, if not here then on Maseratioz, as I recall there was a strong view that it wasn't actually an AC
