Every time an Assetto Corsa appears with anything other than the red/black/silver exterior and black/red trim interior the discussions start as to whether it is the real McCoy.

Just listed on Carsales in Australia is the following:

http://www.carsales.com.au/private/...4294965360 1216&num=15&silo=Stock&sort=~Price

Dark blue and grey interior?

It seems a very low price by Australian standards for an Assetto Corsa as well.

Can anyone tell from the VIN number provided in the listing?

Weird I thought the AC was only UK....still learning.

I suggest this is why the spec is different from the UK's

red black and silver with the black , piped red, interior was the uk options of 75 ACs. Other countries ACs can be all colours and trim combos. All should have a No plaque though.

From what I understand, the VIN of each AC should correspond to a factory designated code HDL1 which confirms the car is an AC. If you supply the VIN to the Maserati/Ferrari customer service department at your country's head office, they maybe able to check this for you.

Also, see the following information which was obtained by a Danny from Spain some time ago which he received from Maserati last year (thank you Danny if you are a forum member?)

The total number of Maserati 3200 GT Assetto Corsa produced is 259 (163 with manual gearbox, 96 with automatic gearbox)

Vehicles sold per markets:
Europe: 206 (of which 75 in the UK)
Rest of World: 53

Regarding the colours, three were the “standard” for AC:
Grigio Touring: 73 cars produced
Nero Carbonio: 63 cars produced
Rosso Mondiale: 60 cars produced

On request the Customer at that time could ask for a different colour. We have produced AC also with the following colours:
Blue luci di mezzanotte: 1
Rosso Indianapolis: 2
Azzurro Argentina: 2
Bianco Birdcage: 6
Blue Maserati: 2
Blue Nettuno: 13
Blue Sebring: 2
Giallo Granturismo: 6
Grigio Alfieri: 15
Nero: 11
Verde Mexico: 1
Paint out of catalogue: 2

Good luck, Stuart

And very nice it looks too Dem, the best colour IMO - no offence intended to everyone else of course!

I had a 3200 manual and if I were buying again always said I would go auto, its better. The manual is heavy, agricultural in its feel and a right pain in traffic, its a real left leg work out and the auto box pairing with the V8 works really well.

Go drive it, I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

My old 3200 was auto. Brilliant, especially kick-downs in Sport mode. I test drove manuals and found them very heavy and hard work.

It's a manual for me, it is more difficult to drive and you have to learn how to drive them smoothly but the acceleration throught 2nd, 3rd and 4th and then into 5th is worth it.

Thats why the world is a wonderful place

Dem,

You're not wrong there.
To quote a line from a Clint Eastwood movie, not sure now which one but probably a Dirty Harry one, "opinions are like a***holes, everyone has one".
Profound stuff, but then I don't suppose Dirty Harry is your typical thnking man's movie.

On a totally different subject, but back to the theme of the thread, does anyone know anything about the red manual AC on Auto Trader at present?
It is red and it is manual, so no need to revisit that debate; LOL.
But surely a car that is principally recognised as a sports car (don't forget the name of this forum) should maximise the driving experience by keeping one's left foot busy?

Oh dear, here we go again.

Regards,
Stephen

The 3200 for me is more like the bentley GT than an aston vantage.....its a fast cruiser and i think it works better as auto....the sound is better and the feel is natural....

Im not knocking manuals but on that model its not for me, i live in london and i find it too heavy....also more costly when they go wrong and endfloat.....

Agree if car was to be used mainly in town, then auto makes sense, manual can be hard work. But in the right environment.............. Bealach-na-Ba-The-road-to-Applecross.jpg
