Apple has launched its in car infotainment system and Ferrari have joined the crowd and will be fitting the system to its cars... Does this mean it will cross over into Maserati?

Looks interesting, and Volvo have said they will have a car in 2014 with the system; the new XC90.

Hope it's an option that you can opt out of if you want.

Probably just something to replace the current Microsoft/Android based systems you find in most cars, so just as able to "opt to" as you can with those. My guess is it'll offer basic functionality like car setup, playing songs and maps for use on its own, but plug in / connect your iPhone and it'll offer more. Connect a different phone and you'll get handsfree calling and be able to play music stored on it, but an iPhone will give you playing videos, running apps etc...

It will make it onto Maserati in 2020.

Anyone tried using a USB stick in a current Maserati? On mine it just produces a random list of the all the tracks saved with no option to vary the playing order other than the random button.

On the loaner bum end 3 series I have at the moment it gives full control to play albums etc. It's not good enough Maserati.

You don't have to venture up the lists to Beemers, the rental Yaris I had last week - bog standard base model - paired with my phone in seconds and connected first time every time, no 'unable to find other device' messages. My whole library was available on the simple to use touch screen.

Thanks for cheering me up!
