hi. Any thoughts as to the cause of the following symptoms i am currently experiancing with my 3200gta.
Under hard acceleration/ loading of the engine at 3500rpm it is as if the ignition is being cycled off and on, as the engine appears to be cutting out and coming back in,
Though this does not happen at the same rpm if a sedate throttle is used upto and through this rpm.
Any thoughts as to the cause ?
No cel on either

An air leak in the intake pipes / hoses maybe? Somewhere after the throttle or maf.
When the motor is moving during hard acceleration the gap opens and closes.

Mine did that occasionally, it was the pedal pot in my case. Hard acceleration it would feel like it was missing a bit around the 3500 point. Was ok when changed.

Had exactly that on my 3200 and it was bad fuel! It was fine under light acceleration but under Full throttle about 4k rpm it was misfiring and lurching, nearly head butted the sun visor it was that violent!

Could be Pedal pot too, you done the reset?

I had a badly fitted hose from the throttle body which caused this on mine, a nice simple fix for once

Certainly if its on and off quickly it would tend to suggest some electrical glitch, like the pedal pot as some have suggested, or throttle body? The fact that the fault is throttle opening related kind of rules out random electrical faults i think. any CEL's or warnings of any sort? I would have thought a pedal sensor or TB fault should create an error?

My pedal pot didn't always throw a CEL. It did at low revs, but when accelerating hard it didn't, just the missing as described.

True the ECU is a lot less twitchy on errors mid range on the pedal pot than at idle where it mostly throws a wobbly.

When mine did this it was cured when the throttle body and lambda sensor was changed. It could however be plugs or coil breaking down under load, l would start by taking the plugs out and checking that they all look the same colour and that the oil seals in the can covers have not let oil onto them.
