Just had my Breitling repaired by those guys. Cost £300 but still much cheaper than replacing the watch. It came back with pressure test results and a guarantee for the repair. Definitely worth letting them have a look at your watch.

Thanks for the recommendation!
It will be good being local to be able to talk face to face with them too.

Question :D

Does anybody else on here share a passion for watches and clocks :)

Oh yes...love them :D

Have made 3 purchases this year, well two and a trade to be precise...

Traded a Heuer Autavia (Jo Siffert model) whilst at Le Mans Classic back in July,
for this 1967 Heuer Carrera 3647T

Bought this Scuderia Ferrari Carbon Faced and PVD bodied Gun Chrono as they were having a sale

The older you get, the more sentimental you get.
An old school friend of mine who I do a fair bit of clay pigeon shooting with has just had his grandfathers side by side restored. They did such a good job I am going to see if an old 100 year old side by side I have can be restored that again has been in the family a long time. Sorry thread drift!

More thread drift:

I agree. I had my dad's Leica IIIf (camera) from 1953 overhauled recently and it came up a peach. I've put several rolls of film through it and it's just a joy to use something so beautifully made and which can trace its heritage back to 1913.

For that money, my Breitling (Chronometre Aerospace) went back to Breitling for a full refurbishment. I swear, at first we thought they'd put the movement in a new case..

Tag customer service is also extremely good.

We have a development... will write it up when Alex has actually got it in his hand but I didn't know I had a budding horologist in my brood!!!

So alongside cars, my other mechanical passion is watches. They fascinate me, something about the intricacy of the movements, and the fact that many are still hand made.

Became a bit of an obsession a few years back and built up quite a healthy (not in bank balance terms) collection, but have now trimmed that back to 4 watches that I really love. Will occasionally still flip one for another just to keep things fresh.

Would be interested to hear about others watch interests.

Incidentally, I'm also a member of the Rolex Forums (albeit not a big Rolex fan), another Forum with great banter but where members treat each other with respect, all the more amazing considering it has 117000 members!

What is the Rolex forum called, can you post a link please.
Thanks

My current avatar shows the lume on my Blancpain Fifty Fathoms which is my favourite casual watch at the moment. I also have a 1964 Rolex Submariner 5513 - personally prefer the classic rolexes to current ones and it's from my birth year which makes it extra special. And my wife got me this for my 50th recently - a little early because a deal came along that was impossible to resist.image.jpg

I've always wanted a JLC because of the incredible history of the company as movement manufacturers, and I fell in love with this watch when I tried it on.
