Don't do it. Every Microsoft update slowly kills your computer.
Had my Mac 3 years now and not had a single problem.

Agreed...
I use to spend every saturday morning sorting out my Microsoft computers. They really are dull ! ( N.B. I deleted the text that claims Apple are so much better ! )
Bought an Apple MacBook Pro ten years ago and still using it, just today reaching out for a tech to wipe and reload the system as it has grown slow enough to be a pain. I did move away from the city recently- so 150MBps to about 6MBps might be part of it TBH !

Apple arent what they used to be ten years ago mind. Made in China...no customer service. When it goes wrong, they want you to buy another unit....Sh1t philosophy frankly ....

The phones are not all that. My iPad isnt nothing special and battery life is poor...

Still...what choice is there ?

Tim, I have a 2008 MB Pro that I gave to the wife. If you doing a reinstall, I can highly recommend that you upgrade the hard drive to SSD, it makes a massive difference to performance.

Cheap and simple to do, its just under the battery cover.

Matt, I don't want to use the cloud for storing information let alone pay for it, in addition we use .pst files for our contacts and calendars which can off course be backed up but not hosted remotely they have to be local.

And as I have mentioned some of the software we use for shipping and for my astronomy will not run on Macs even in emulation.

My PC's run perfectly, and they sync with Apple iPads, Phones etc. perfectly, it was as I have said Android that was causing the problem not apple and I wnated to move away from apple but can't now.

I guess I use the best of both. I use Microsoft office for Mac, and have all the usability which Microsoft gives you, with the added reliability of Apple.
Win win.
I've got a 3 TB storage thing attached to the Mac and everything saves onto there, as well as the Microsoft One Drive so I am double 'backed up' in software terms as opposed to my daily routine.

Thanks for that...
I'll ask about it as I saw it was offered ...

Yep, I use office on the Mac too but only the Outlook mail thingy. Excel and Word are shockingly bad, I now use Google docs and sheets which is utterly brilliant. Free, online cloud stored and multiple people can collaborate at one time, its amazing.

Remember these ‘cloud’ services aren’t independent offline storage, they are syncs of local data, ie two copies.

I have my Mac mini at home everyone connects too and rsycc running to my other Mac mini in a DC in Dublin.
