Another possible GS sale - thoughts on value?

Afternoon all,

So just like buses another possible GS sale comes along! With the Lotus Elise and Mini Cooper now gone I have a chance to amalgamate some cars together and get a possible itch to scratch/boyhood dream car. This brings me to a possible value to my GS - spec is as below but main value cruncher is the mileage at 100k - never a problem for me but can see it putting off many. That brings the key question of whether I just keep it if it is not worth much? On the other hand it would annoy me if it wasnt getting used?? Lovely to look at though....

2006 Gransport
Anniversary Blue with LE interior etc.
100k miles
Recent new clutch from Sports Italia with all ancillaries repalced as well
Lots of history - regular services by myself and specialists for anything else as needed doing eg rad, front crank seal
Larini decat pipes, H Pipe and modified back boxes
Complete suspension check and refresh when I bought it a 90k including new bushes all round and two new lower front wishbones

I'm thinking £18k??

Mileage is no bother to people who arent in the market for buying one...!
Why buy a 'long in the tooth" example when advice is so often that buying the "best you can afford" is the way to go, and they are like buses just now ? ( not my words )
Pitch it against the current competition . Its a different buyer that gets into a 100K mile car IMO...Either they know nothing ( like me, and shy away from it) or they do know the pitfalls and expect a cheaper price tag...They all bite you on the a55 eventually... !? :as001 (2):
Its not an easy thing to put a number on. With 4200's barely cracking £12K at auction...
What you need is someone who has a lot experience retailing these cars and this marque...>!>!

Don't sell it

Mandatory speed limiters in all new cars from 2022 and potentially the end of ICE by the end of the decade will make youngtimer classics become very sought after.

It's not only speeding but acceleration limiters surely.

I think you should ask RG for a honest and realistic price to sell privately.

Whilst we may judge based on passion for the mark, the market may not be as sympathetic.

Price feels right and actually as with the other car for sale a few Knoess with over 100k on it feels like another GS bargain. So much machine for your money and what a colour…

Miles wouldn’t put me off as long as they are well serviced and looked after and to be honest they are better off driven and probably less problem some that a garage queen…

Cheers for the thoughts guys - much as I thought.… Suppose just a question of how much I want to change and what value I place on it just to keep it…. Hmm much to ponder….. Amazing value though these cars when you see how much other stuff has risen and is demanding!

I’d say it is worth that, but you might find it tricky actually getting that. Maybe advertise it at £19k and see what happens. It’ll only take a few calls from prospective buyers for you to then decide what the market is saying. And if you get no calls, that’ll also tell you something!

I’m going to be the portent of doom and say if you want it sold in the next six months it needs to be £15k.

If you wait till spring you’ll stand a far better chance of £18k and you won’t have had a car unsold for 6 months with everyone then wondering what’s wrong with it.

...and everything else. GPS tracking and logging of your information, basically the nanny state integrated into your personal transport solution. Plus all of the autonomous driver aids coming in, I can see a lot of forgotten about sports cars and grand tourers becoming very sought after.

The fuel companies are never going to get out of the business of selling juice, it's not in their interests and they are above any nation state as supra-national organisations. Once they are no longer allowed to drill holes in the ground to extract fossil juice the big switch to synthetics will happen
