The thing is. Using both hands. I believe 39-45 was about six years. We've had our feet up for, going on for eighty years now.
That'd be like going to work on Monday and wandering around the house in your Chewbacca onsie until Sunday night rolls around again.
In other words. A typical French working week.
At least when we had the Commonwealth firmly in order, we could steal all their wealth.
Like a national social security programme for the country with the biggest fleet.
The last time we tried that old dodge was Suez and we know how that turned out.

Like them or not , engilsh monarchs from Richard the Lionheart through to Queen Elizabeth 2nd nurtured and coerced the masses to develop a certain global entrepreneurship , couple that with the sense of order instilled and left behind by the Romans its no wonder we turned into one of the best global empires ever ....right or wrong we did it better than anyone else at the time that cant be denied ....its history and plain fact.
Having been fortunate enough though work to visit many many far eastern, African and Caribbean countries most of which were or still part of the commonwealth, its heartening to see the institutions that have been left behind and continue to flourish in some shape or form , Ive spoken to numerous politicians and elderly members and if there is one common denominator that stands out from virtually all of them ..........is that they dearly miss the infrastructure and order that British left behind , whether it be local township council / schools/railways/hospitals etc , It wasnt all rape and pillage as many would have you believe, As Ulsterman said eighty years of sitting back on our laurels has subsequently equalled our world standing allowing other nations to catch up, some to even surpass. What is quiet plain for all to see is that the last 30 years of successive liberal governments has squandered 300 years worth of our heritage and standing , our education system producing a younger generation of popinjays ...........similar to what happened to the greeks and romans, there will be no coming back from that for a long time if ever , however Insignificant we arent well not yet ....it will come as the popinjays increase with age
