HI all....

My old man is in the process of buying a 458 and has been to look at quite a few the last couple weeks (cannot wait for when he finally gets it!).

He's off to view one tomorrow at Amari which seems the right kind of money and it's still under Ferrari warranty etc But I'm sure I'd heard Amari didn't have the best rep?

I'd rang them myself last year when looking for my GTS and to be honest was put off by the pushy sales girl the other end. She couldn't understand why I didn't want to put a 1k deposit down on the car over the phone without seeing it as loads of their customers do just that as they're always perfect!

Anyways a quick search online reveals a few not so complimentary comments about Amari but in all fairness they're 5+ years old.

As mentioned the car is under warranty but I was just a little concerned that by buying it from there it may in some way taint it come part ex time with other dealerships...

Just don't hand over the money until you have the sales receipt and logbook signed.

Other than that, if the car is straight I wouldn't be concerned.

From a personal perspective I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole!

Weren't they the ones on the TV program not long ago, Preston ? Never heard of them until then but I am sure someone on here has used them before

Would never hand over money without seeing what I was buying first.

There seems to be a lot of not so complimentary comments out there but they have been going for years and must have some happy customers as they wouldn't still be going. Not sure if I would buy from them but then if they have the right car and the right deal no reason why you wouldn't buy as you wouldn't have to go....(unless the car went bang of course).

What are the basic rules on here about recommendations/condemnations of dealerships and garages?

I remember part of the reason for us breaking away from the 'other' place was because of discontent over this.

I have no knowledge of Amari, but it seems tough to hammer them so publicly on the world's #1 Maserati forum. Would a moderator pull a thread like this if it were for one of our sponsors? If not, what would we do if the sponsor then complained?

Just curious about the ground rules!

If people are speaking from personal experience, I don't see a problem but if people are slating them from what they saw on a TV programme, that's a bit different. With Amari, his reputation precedes him and if people have had negative, or positive, experiences then, IMO, it's fair to air them if the poster feels sufficiently moved to do so, but let's not forget that every garage/dealership has its bad days. However, Matt is the ultimate arbiter in such matters.

I think there have been quite specific comments about some of the sponsors - certainly I can recall Autoshield, Shiltech, Giallo and Emblem being slated at some time.

I'd like to hear about both the good and the bad, then make up my own mind. As an example, I've posted both good and bad feedback about Shiltech. Would I still use them? Yes, I continue to do so, because I feel the bad service I received wasn't Business As Usual for that company, and indeed they put it right and my relationship with the owners there remains strong.

It's important for people to hear that sort of thing - it's a measure of a decent company that will sort out issues. I'd like to hear about companies which don't correct their mistakes, otherwise I'd risk losing my money there too.

I don't think anyone has hammered them, just stated they wouldn't buy off them. I have no experience other than what I've heard and read, and as often mentioned don't believe every thing you read on the internet. But I'm also a great believer of no smoke without fire, so I would also steer clear tbh.

Call them, but make sure you hold your phone tight or he'll have it off you! ;)

Pat it's fair to say we invite positive experiances about Amari too. Problem is nobody has and I think that speaks volumes.

Drewfs comments about negatives regarding our sponsors is s valid one. What I then do is contact said sponsor to make them aware and to expedite a resolution.

Having our sponsors is a great thing for the forum as they know their work is under constant scrutiny which means they make sure their levels are maintained.

I bought my GC MC from them. Had no pushy sales approach, got a deal on the price that I was happy with and after test driving and agreeing the deal I left a £500 deposit to secure the car till the money was sorted. Follow up service was excellent. I wouldn't have any hesitation in recommending and when you look at the stock they have in there I assume they have some pretty discerning customers.

I was in Preston kn Wednesday and decided to pay a visit to the industrial estate as my old MK1 Golf was for sale up there (with a 250% mark up).

Was surprised to see it was at the same unit as Armani and parked between a RR drop head and a SV Lambo!!! Both of whjch appeared to be asking for more money!!

Did not have time to stop and chat sadly but did notice that they had at least repainted the only scrape on the car, its rear bumper...but not very well.

They have a lovely black Grancab there at the moment with cream leather.
