Am I allowed to continue renovation work

I am currently in the process of renovated all my bathrooms. We got the master bathroom completed almost 2 weeks ago, and we literally started both the kids and guest bathrooms the day before yesterday. All the material (bulky as you can imagine) is either on site or being delivered.

Following last night announcement, I am wondering whether I am allowed to keep going with the work. It is being done by 2 builders, so we are technically no more than 6 in the house (and only 4 during the day when the school resumes post half term).

I really wouldn’t want to pause the work for 4 weeks if I am not legally obliged to do it as the house is quite dusty now, the kids are without a bathroom and need to use ours, and most of the material is currently being stored outside in the poor weather.

Thanks for sharing your understanding of the new rules

I don't see the issue here either. Keep distanced and sensible then let the works continue. They clearly can't work from home.

It is these kind of sensible decisions some like yourself can work with but clearly others don't have the brain power to and don't care then go over and above sensibilities.

If we had more of the population able to make good thoughtful decisions throughout this process I dare say we wouldn't have needed a single lockdown at all.

The rule of 6 has gone, but they can still work in your house according to this.
Boris Johnson announced a month-long lockdown for England with pubs, restaurants, hairdressers and non-essential shops forced to shut. Here's what we know so far about seeing family, travelling, bubbles, shielding, furlough and more

Been doing this since Feb (the whole house)
Organise the workies then get out of their way
Should not be a problem

What is “non essential”
Wonder how many people have caught covid playing golf, or fishing.....

I’d crack on. As others have said, as far as I can tell you’re allowed, and it’s also the right thing to do.

Thanks lads. Will crack on then. That way we will have all our bathrooms ready for the guests we won’t be allowed to invite for Christmas

This is what I do for a living, we are allowed to work, it's up to you if you want people in your house, I am part way through a major job in a grade 1 listed Jacobean mansion, which got deferred from april because of lockdown#1 when they closed the house, if they do the same this time, they will not have this bathroom for Christmas, which is what they have requested.
