Marginal gains, diminishing returns and all that jazzI suspect Coffee equipment can very quickly match Hi-Fi equipment in always chasing perfection - I can't risk anymore just because purchases

Agree but believe my kit is the entry point to make a good espresso (correct pressure and temp throughout the process needs a full size brass head). You can spend 1000s I am sure. And not buying 2/3 coffees per day at c3.50GBP it pays for itself (especially if you add in the fuel for trips from home!) - Man Maths, don't you love it!?Marginal gains, diminishing returns and all that jazz
100% agree! Im after the marginal gains. My roaster will cost £3k and that’s entry levelAgree but believe my kit is the entry point to make a good espresso (correct pressure and temp throughout the process needs a full size brass head). Exactly! Life is too short to drive dull cars, drink bad wine (or coffee), etc.You lot are all barking!

(but also having a maser puts me on that spectrum too)
I think my Mrs would draw the line at a roasting ...
I'm lost for words.Extra cream and froth......
I agree, I did say mostly flat white. Now I really can't get my head around taking so much care of the coffee, then drowning it in milk <ducks>

Good espresso is the basis of lots of nice things
I think I'll just do a coffee tour of all your houses. To see if I like it. Haha.
Did the modified Gaggia thing paired with a Vario grinder. Made very good coffee !
Sold that and upgraded to ECM kit.
Sometimes I weigh it

Flat white for me most of the time
It's mostly about oonie pizza ovens these days in my house. Something else to obsess over.
I had a Eureka grinder and I agree makes a huge difference. Paired that for a while with a Francino machine also excellent. Lost that lot in the divorce and now very happy with a Gaggia bean to cup with Gaggia Intenso beans. Does the job with minimum hassle.i managed to negotiate a Eureka Mignon grinder which has been a game changer for taste and flavour. Currently on York Cafe Soul of the Machine beans after visiting their Birmingham Cafe last year and loving the flavour. Union Revelation is also another firm favourite
