air conditioning on, idle hunting

Dear All,

Since recently, the idle is hunting a bit when I put the a/c on.

It is not huge but I would say it keeps on going up and down about 150 rpm.

Do you have any ideas about the problem and its resolution?

Thank you!

To my mind this suggests some pulsing in the refrigerant flow. Mine hunts a bit on start up and after a bit of a thrashing, does it settle down?

I had a much larger hunting problem, but I tracked it down to a connection in the wiring above the heads under the black maserati plates. To the front f the engine there is a cable that goes in to the head and has a connection just before that. It fills with oil after time. I checked both of mine and cleaned and reconnected. Hunting gone.

Yes, I checked the camshaft variator sensors about 10 days back, one had a little oil in it and the other one was fine.
The problem is still there. It keeps on hunting while the AC is on, it stops when it's off.

It also does happen sometimes after a sportier use, yes :)
How could I solve that if it was this?
It doesn't seem to really settle, however it is sometimes hunting more than others.

I would suspect something like a sticky idle control valve - but I am not super familiar with how the ECU manages idle speed. Perhaps someone else has experience of idle control issues?
