Welcome Andy ,

Just in the process of replacing abs module , did not mind the no traction control but the abs was an issue !
Will let you know how it goes - my issues started similarly , then lights on all the time - diagnosed as no feedback from ABS module ( in layman's terms it's fooked ) , advice from the guys above is good . Hopefully it is a poor connection and they can check it and reset things . Let us know how it goes .

all the best

HI Emtee

thanks for the welcome. Feels normal under baraking but not inclined to push it the point where the ABS would kick in to find out if its working or not.... in case it isn't. Any Ideas as to where my nearest SD2 may be - I'm near Launceston in Cornwall?
Time to try the re-boot and see if I can find anything obvious.

Andy

Hi Andy, It's a bit of a trek, but there's Meridien Modena in Lyndhurst. Not my neck of the woods so haven't used them myself, but they seem to have a very good reputation.

Yes, seen these guys mentioned before, but I'm not sure they have SD2? Worth a call though, as they're somewhat closer.

Thanks for the info. Thats much closer and not far north of where I usually start to head back homeward on one of my favourite drives....just gives me an excuse to carry on a bit further next time!
Update is that the ASR/ABS lights are now OUT! yippee. Not quite sure what I did. Battery disonnect Re-boot didnt cure it & caused every electrical system to activate when I re-connected - took me many attempts and ignition on/of cycles to stop the hazards from flashing. Jacked up removed wheels and "fiddled" with wiring connections to all hubs, found one dodgy looking wire on f n/s with gaiter/cover missing ...found it cable tied further up so re fixed in correct place. Still lights on so decided to take the car out to test ASR & ABS round the corner on country lane steep hill. Hadnt even made it off the dirt track that leads to my place - thinking back it was first touch on the brakes to slow down for nasty level change when meeting the "highway" (a single track Rd) and lights reset back to normall - A positive slant maybe that the system reset when it was asked to do something i.e brakes activated or alternatively the module is failing and the problwm will get worse. Only time will tell, but I will start looking out for 2nd hand module. I find it very hard to understand why when computers are so powerful & cheap these days, car ECU's are so expensive & why no-one has come up with a software solution/replacement for the dedicated hardware of an ECU. Anyway drove for about 40 miles on mixture of roads, surfaces and growing enthusiasm vis the loud pedal...the big smile back on my face. One puzzling Q from the service though - anyone know where the fuel filter hides on 3200 gt(m)?

Hi Andy,
Great you got it fixed!
ECU are expensive as they are usually one offs for a particular model so manufactures can charge what they like as they are so difficult to copy.
There are places that will repair certain ECU for popular makes but don't know about Maseratis
Concerning the fuel filter, try looking on Eurospares as it's bound to have a diagram for the fuel system so you can spot the location of the filter.

Hi Andy, Glad you've got this looking like it's sorted, but I'd definitely recommend getting your car hooked up to an SD tester, as this will reveal the stored fault codes, and therefore direct you to the root cause. It may well have been a faulty connection rather than the ECU. If the ECU is waiting for a response from the brakes, I have been told this would throw the ABS and MSP warning lights. This would certainly be stored. No point spending on an expensive ECU if this isn't the cause of the problem. Cheers, Miles.

Glad to see your ASR problems appears sorted. The fuel filter is is the boot and from the picture in the manaul it looks like it is behind the trim panel that backs onto the rear seat. If someone can explain to me how you attached a PDF file to a reply I will attach a page from the manual.

Yes - I agree with Emtee , get everything checked before you bother spending on new bits - It will probably simmer down now . The thing I found really odd is all these places out there advertise a reconditioning service , then no one can do it cos it does not commuicate - if it did I would not want it repaired would I !!! I haave a module off an Audi A6 in my garage - 1 part number different and all the pins the same and the same location - there must be more to this than meets the eye - I will continue to dig. By the way- Fuel Filter - look straight in front of your when you open the boot , the tank is covered by the carpet - fuel filter is behind carpet trims on right hand side of tank - near to where the fuel neck goes through , careful when removing as it is easy to spill fuel and it stink for ages afterwards !

And Rex your are a faster typist than me !

Hi Andy, After a conversation with my indi this afternoon on the subject, it might be worth checking your brake pedal switch. If this is flaky (or just a slightly intermittent connection) it would throw both the ABS and ASR warning lights. This is stored as a specific fault and you should be able to read it on an SD tester. You should also get a fault code from an ODBII scanner, though it'll be quite vague. It's a very basic plunger switch, so is easily checked.

Ta for all the helpful advice. Have found that there is a main dealer in Exeter ( Carrs Ferari/Maserati) so if I cant find an indie then will go there for SD2.
