ABS/ ASR - Another one with problems!

Right, I fitted a replacement ABS module as mine has had the NO ASR and ABS lit on the DIS. Do I need the SD2 to reset this or should it reset it self? After replacing it is still showing NO ASR. I would hate to think I've blown another unit as some of the other horror stories I have heard. It did ARC when I connected the replacement :(

Have you driven it at all? I'd be not surprised if it needs to get signals to set itself up as it were.

As to needing an SD2, it would depend where the fault is stored, either the ABS module (in which case it can't be reading the same one) or in the central module (which seems unlikely)

Hope you've not blown it as well. Disconnect the master switch next time? :( Are you still getting the ABS light?

Sorry to hear of your woes Phil, good luck with it.

I know that the airbag light needs an SD2 to reset it so this could be the same?

Yes exactly same lights on now C. I've been told it could be phonic rings and I guess my next step is to do a visual inspection on each one and clean them all up.

The SD2 sheet I got originally points to an ECU error but weirdly it shows two speeds as if there is a discrepancy.

I've been told that I shouldn't have taken the ECU away from the pump and should have done both of the pairings too so royally messed that one up.

Phil when I did mine (both Bloddy times) I changed just the ECUs, so that b@&£&cks. The light should go out after u drive above 10km/h. If it stays on u either blown it or u have a fault. The only way to find out is the sd2/3 if u get ecu error it's f£&@cked if u don't happy days.

Good luck!

Ok Bill thanks for that. So basically it could have blown again? I checked fuse in footwell (10A) and it seemed fine. Like a dick I connected the new ABS ECU to the block and because I found the flat tyre I was distracted and left the ignition on one turn! I just wonder if this made things "live" and when I put the connector onto the block it arced as if it were live.

Good to know about them being interchangeable. I guess the only thing I can do now is check the phonic rings and then get it to a dealer.

Never a dull moment is there in 3200 ownership?

I know... But I would get it plugged in before u spend any more time worrying about it!

That's a good shout C. I think we deduced he could scan the car. At this rate it's going to have to wait until Spring!

If it isn't urgent I will contact you next time I am passing near Newbury. I'm going to be testing at Qinetiq test track in Chertsey on Tuesday but that is probably too far for you.

Can you give us some more information about where to send it?

This is great news.

I went on to this web site https://boschelectronicservice.eu , found that the Bosch 5.3 was listed but not for the 3200 so I emailed them I was dealt with by timea.zsamboki@hu.bosch.com she was vey helpful, she required the Bosch number printed on the underside of the ECU which is 182636 0 273 004 349
I was offered:
- you can buy a new unit. It costs 679€ + 18,4€ delivery cost + VAT. The delivery term is 1-2 working days after we receive the money. In this case, if you will get the new unit, you have to send back the faulty to us.

- you can repair it. It costs 197,1€ + 36,8€ delivery cost + VAT. The repair term is 1 week after we receive the money
I went for the rework option, basically they email you a UPS returns label for you to send it off. Takes 3 weeks in all. As I said fitted it today and everything is fine and dandy just hope it stays that way fingers crossed.
Cheers All

I would say that's good value and dealing direct with Bosch ?
They have a UK phone number on the web site can you not deal with them in the UK ?

That's great news!! Perhaps we could get together and send a batch to save on carriage and perhaps get a volume discount..!
