A splash of alcantara to enhance the Gt s.........

After the release of "Goldfinger", a friend of David Brown, Aston Martin's then owner, asked him for a DB5 at cost price. After much pestering he finally relented, and presented his friend with a brand new Aston and an invoice for £500 more than the usual sale price. :) I'd love that story to be true, but it probably isn't...

What's 'cost' then MAF?
I see that on a documentary about bond and his cars years ago. So apparently true.

Looks really good. I test drove a Gran Cab yesterday at Maranello with extended and perforated leather. Both are v nice. The extended covers most of the door and map pocket.

Hotwheels, do the company you are dealing with do a similar service for leather?

Thanks
Yes they can do it in virtually anything but specialise in Italian cars and oem fabric and leather. I will bombard him with questions when I get steering wheel fitted lol!

All of their sales margin according to the salesman. I'll confirm that when I see the quote.

Can you get me a quote on a Centennial Strad please? Let's see if it can meet my budget & current bank balance!
Ta very much

You can just see the Alloy Pedal/s on mine with the Silver Carbon trim.

Noting the dipped centre piece phil - it looks nice!

I am not so bothered about my alcantara headlining - it has certainly impressed some passengers but I didn't really notice it. Its all about the Steering wheel, paddles and pedals for me.

I am going ahead with an aftermarket carbon wheel which, if it feels and looks anywhere near as good as it seems will be mental.

Looking forward to picking the car up from Marios with the X pipe fitted when I am back from Eurodisney / SAS training camp in the blistering heat

Maranello have a big sales event on this weekend, they are offering some serious deals on cars to hit their unit numbers for the half year. I had a chat with them yesterday and they are offering some cars at cost!

Hi Maf

I listened in on a conversation another salesman was having there and I think you are correct. FWIW my sales guy told me that the Granturismo and Cabrio stop in September - which we all know. There will then be a gap of at least 18 months before the new one is shown meaning that you'll see it on UK roads in Sept 2018 ish. After that the Alfieri which will be a 2+2 but smaller that the Granturismo. I guess this means something the size of the California back seats. Of course he could be wrong - but if he's correct and there is a 2+ year gap I think Granturismo/Cabrio secondhand prices will be pretty solid for some time.

I heard they had already stopped building new cars and are now canibalising built cars from the parts bin.

You'll love it Iain - the xpipe that is, I can't speak for either Euro Disney or the SAS!

Not sure where that came from. Maranello still have some build slots for GranTurismos available until the end of the year. You will not be able to order a GT after 31st December this year as the engines will not be Euro 6 compliant from 1st Jan 2017.

I hope so! Excited about getting it back.. I was scared I was getting used to it as a DD.

Love the Abarth mate - just stunning. And the monza exhaust sounds like a must - it seems rare to get that package in that colour as you said, so worth the wait! A Centennial Strad would look nice next to it :)

Yeah! Me too! I'd really like to see the finished version - I'm sure that it will look lovely.

Same here, my Alcantara wheel has been somewhat neglected by previous owners, I did fluff it up a bit but its not perfect so I too like the idea of having it recovered/made thicker and even having the bottom squared off - if at all poss.
Do I sense there is interest here to approach this Company to get several done together if the price is right??
What sort of money are we talking about Hotwheels?

Many thanks

I could do with new alcantara on the wheel in my GTS. After 50k miles it's looking a little flat/dirty. Please PM me with the contact details for the company you used.

I'd be very interested, but I'm getting a feeling that it won't be *that* much cheaper than getting a 'real' one. Looking like quite a lot of work

Me too, and I almost bought your car, but it wasn't in the Blue Med!
Ahhhhh :) I love the colour of your car too - do you have more photos inside and out?

I am interested in this as well, also I met a guy at the Nurburgring who sends all his steering wheels to the uk for this type of work, including fattening / reshaping he was talking £140 per wheel but I am still chasing him for the contact details.

That seems ridiculously cheap - but snap it up if you can get it.
Retrimming alone is at least 200 and to change the shape would significantly rack it up. The mod hot wheels is having done will look fantastic but will cost 500-750 at least.
