90s factory used chassis protection

For some time I am trying to figure out what protection is used underneath mid 90s Maseratis by the factory. It’s about the chassis itself. They all appear to have the same black thin spray being used. I doubt if it’s tectyl or dinitrol as it’s non flexible and really a thin spray. It’s almost like a thin primer being used. It’s on my Ghiblis but also noticed same on QP4. Anybody know what was used back then? I want to clean and detail the underneath and like to repair some areas where there is some light rust or damages but it needs to stay original. Any views appreciated

Can't comment on the Ghiblis, but I know the Granturismo has special protection, called FA

TBF on the factory they had a “misting of satin black”

Could be a zinc spray coating with a light dusting of black paint on top.

Hmm could be. Not thought about that. Clearly the colour used is matching the engine bay paint which is a dark anthracite colour and could have been used after zink spray. I am now also following it up at the factory to see if anybody there can point in the right direction.

Here you see a better picture with also original chassis primer colour. Zink spray with touch of paint used for engine bay could make sense

That looks like VHT to me wrinkle finish.

Not much...

When i removed the front subframe to be powder coated where it sat against the chassis rails they were still yellow primer !!
