Hi Billy
I have Falken 453s on mine. They do the job well and are pretty cheap, which is a bonus :)

I really like the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric's on mine... they came with the car though so i havent tried any others. I'm thinking about going to Yokohama Advan Nuovo next... apparently an amazing tyre, esp for track days.

I have to second the F1's, a very, very good tyre, just look at the ratings.

The Falkens are getting expensive now but are good too.

Just fitted Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymetric all round after a blast of a time with the Falken 453's. The grip from the F1's feels better and definitely more confidence in the rain. The drive feels a lot different though, it's taking some getting used to, the tyres seem to grip a few milliseconds later, but they grip better. Could even be the difference in tread depth (the Falkens were LOW!) that's causing it. I'm sure I'll be used to them in a couple of days.

£590 for all four fitted & balanced at blackcircles.com

Standard 18" for the 4200 (after putting it into so many web sites and reciting it over the phone...from memory)

Front : 235x40 R18 95Y XL
Rear : 265x35 R18 97Y XL

You can get them cheaper if they are just delivered & arrange fitting yourself, but the order/turn up/drive away option was too convenient.

About the same price as Mytyres, F1s are the way I am going.

That initial bite might just be whilst the hard outer skin wears through, normally takes up to 500 miles to clear

I'll be getting a new set soon too. Doing my research now. Having had Vredesteins on the last two cars I might repeat that again, or maybe the Eagle F1s.

I bought my last set from Jungle tyres. I'd never heard of them at the time but they were a good £40 cheaper than all the other suppliers on my last set. I'm seeing a complete set of Vreds for the 4200 for £470 delivered.

I don't have a lot of experience comparing tyres, but I changed to F1s and they're great. Stick like s**t.

Marginally cheaper than the Falkens as well.

I'm gonna need two rears soon. The fronts are just about new, though

I've just stuck two Dunlop Sport Maxx RT on the front of mine, according to all the press they're very good in the wet and with braking not to mention quiet! I chose them mainly because of the European Standard ratings you see on the tyre websites, but when they were backed up by comparison tyre tests in AutoBild you can't argue with them. But make sure you buy RT not GT. Camskills did two for around £230

I've had the Goodyears on for a while now and thought I'd chime in. They feel a lot different to the Falken 453's I had on before, the back end feels slightly loose in comparison - not from grip, but I think the rubber is softer or the construction is different so there is more of a movement from the treads or sidewalls. At first I thought it was either the pressure being wrong or a puncture, but checked both and it seems it's just a characteristic when they are up to temperature.

In the wet they are awesome. 85 round a bend and came across a patch of water running across the road, maybe 2-3 metres wide. The car skipped sideways slightly, but then stuck like someone had turned on a sodding great big magnet. Generally these seem to have grip where I wouldn't expect it, and I think I could get nicely over-confident with them.

Dry grip is good, on par with the Falkens once I got over the odd feeling described above I felt I could predict them a lot better and had confidence. Not really ragged them as I'm trying to sell the car with these as "like new" so not tried them on a track yet.

Overall, for UK driving I would stick with these. If I was somewhere less damp I might look elsewhere for a stiffer compound/construction, but for the price they are great.

I run the Goodyear F1 A2s as well and agree with Chris. The soft 'swinging' feeling from the rears when new decreases with miles and now they feel bob-on. They seem to be wearing well too, which is nice. Great grip in the wet and very good grip in the dry and for our climate, are a very good compromise between price and performance. Highly recommended.

I have pushed hard with Pirelli Rosso and find them excellent in all weathers, but not cheap..!! I currently have falken 452's on the front of my GS and I am not that keen, they work but just lack something compared to the Pirelli, I have Pirelli on the back and virtually never lose grip apart from when chasing Drew on a skip and a jump road that he knew very well..!!

have to agree with robert. I put rossos on the back after the blow out recently and feel they have really good grip. when the fronts are to be changed I'll be going rosso.
