Do what? End up in your workshop?C’mon Roary, you can do it!
No, rooting for the reverse.Do what? End up in your workshop?
No - but his brakes are squeeking a bit - and has anthracite coloured wheels, and there are a few rattles , etc- but of no consequence- and he is due his annual service soon.....Why, is his actuator on the way out too?
For anyone interested, Sam at Stradale Italia in Uttoxeter (where I left my 4200 Spyder after breaking down) discovered the right hand fuel pump was broken. It was only delivering half a bar of fuel pressure rather than 4 bars (I think he said). So only 4 cylinders working and a bunch of lights on the dash including a ‘Slow down‘ message. Think was also affecting the alternator/battery charging which has improved since the repair.
These fuel pumps are discontinued, obsolete and are almost impossible to get hold of. Fortunately I think I found the last new Maserati one in the UK (seriously!). the Maser 4200 community needs to work out how to get these in the future.
We have a pair of new 4200 pumps on the shelf if you need them. It’s the rubber that breaks down from the E10 fuel and jams and shorts the pumps. For anyone interested, Sam at Stradale Italia in Uttoxeter (where I left my 4200 Spyder after breaking down) discovered the right hand fuel pump was broken. Already done on Maseratilife years ago. For a Spyder it's a Bosch 0580313104. With float. The float can be removed for the other side. Cant remember which way round. Units readily available at various places for as little as £120 a side. Gasket and fixing rings are sold separately.the Maser 4200 community needs to work out how to get these in the future.
