Help needed guys my 4200 been off the road for a week now whilst trying to get her in tip top mechanical order.
The rear end is causing me grief because a specialist has machined the outer tie rod and put a oversize rose joint in which is now u/s.
In the photo my arm is adjustable at both ends i have obtained a new tie rod which i have pressed the rose joint into but no good for my car as wrong although im assured its off a 4200.
I thought it was maybe 3200?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Phil.

This is the correct part for a 4200, as you can see there is not and adjuster anywhere near the rose joint.....

Phil, that's certainly not what Eurospares part shows :(

You may well have to get some new arms with tie rods :(

Or talk to David, I was in touch with him recently. He sells rose joints which may (but I have to say probably won't) fit.

Having just replaced my lower wishbone I can confirm that the bottom pic is the official part. I don't see why it doesn't fit? Of course you would have to take the adjustment nuts off the top tie rod to make it fit to the wishbone (it has a bigger nut at the connecting end). Alternatively, can't you just replace the rose joint end on the top tie rod and refit that? I know there is a thread on here somewhere with the part number for this mod. In fact thats what the top tie rod looks like, a modded tie rod end.

Cheers guys I have had my car for 3 years so they must have been done a while ago. Certainly a proper job done and I would say better than the original as bigger with the rose joint 2mm bigger in diameter doesn't sound a lot but when side by side you will see. Also easier to set up alignment. I have quite a collection of bits now from specialists. Been frustrating but roll on Monday morning.

I would guess a new rose joint should simply screw on, a la Kilve's thread, which would be nice.

Looks like a good mod. You'll be able to get a very high spec rose joint for less than the cost of the rod probably. Got a funny feeling mine might be the same - I'll have to take a look next time.

Will let you all know the costs when I have everything in place. Just want it finished now as I'm having to do my own clutch changes driving the old M3 around on my trade plates.

Got a call from Autosport bearings yesterday that they are now not able to supply mine until after the 16th of April.
So mines going to stay off the road for a while so she wont be at Bristol but i will be there as a spectator.
