I have a set of full size seesaw ramps for bigger jobs but the problem with them is two fold, they are silly heavy and you cannot take a wheel off on them.

£50 - I am gobsmacked!!!

Thats some hourly rate considering the time it must have took.

It costs something like £10/hr to hire a ramp down the road from me - take your own tools and fettle away.

Actually I think my local was honest! he took off the undertray to do a proper job and I am sure he took him 45 min. hourly rate is 60£. Maserati and independent charge 90-110 and I am sure they would have charged a full hour.

I could have done it myself but was not bother for 50£....

Said that if you want to work safely and confortably on any car and in particularly a 4200 you need a full ramp.

Unfortunately I have been speaking too early....still leaking...I cannot believe it!!!

Is this a common problem? I know the oil reservoir plug is fitted with an additional threaded insert and this sometimes moves and can create problems.

Or perhaps my mechanic is not good enough.....I should do the job myself but without a ramp available near home I do not want to try this. I had no leak till I changed oil. The first change was done without fitting a copper washer so no surprise it was leaking but now I have been told the washer I have provided has been fitted!!!

Any recommendation is welcome.

The Job in question is not exactly rocket science, at worst you need to remove the under tray, but I suspect if the washer has been fitted it my well just need nipping up, BTW when your local mechanic did this job he would have had to drain off and refill your oil tank, did he do this?

That's what I have told him to do! in the invoice even says removed under tray...

I had this problem on my Alfa 155. The easiest thing to do was get a self taping sump plug.

Obviously not oem but worked a treat.

Make sure you don't buy a Maserati branded pollen filter as they're about £55+ from memory. The Alfa 166 filter is identical - I just bought one on eBay for less than £6 delivered! Might be worth buying some pullers if you don't already have some as the wiper arms have to come off to get to the filter.
I've just acquired a 4200 CC.
Where would I find the pollen filter ?
Engine bay or in the passenger compartment?

Engine bay: From memory
Wiper arms off
Scuttle off
Cover then exposed on the LH side of the engine bay as seen from sitting in the car

It's been a while though....
