4200 - Lowered and spaced

Looks OK but modifying wheel positions is something that should be done with care and knowledge of what you are doing. Some cars are very susceptible to wheel alignment and increasing track and lowering suspension will change the geometry which needs to be adjusted accordingly.

Certainly an improvement on the stance of the standard 4200 and I like the wheels. I think the anthracite/grey wheels modernise the car. Not bad at all for a 4200.

Been thinking about it for mine, spoke to the guys who did my MOT and exhausts, they have a full set up and said will adjust geometry etc, does anybody see any real value in fitting the FD spring kit, or just lower on originals and fit spacers?

Never really been a fan of dark colour wheels. Not sure how many Italian thoroughbreds start with dark wheels.

Looks well looked after. Mine has spacers on, like that, however, I personally would have had a slightly lighter shade for the alloys. Same exhaust as well.

Certainly worth a look.

So spent a fortune in the last few 100 miles but now needs to sell to fund an extension... not good forward planning!

Most of the parts are recent additions and can be reversed...I would worry that the spacers are causing additional stress on already old hubs and bearings though.

As an outsider looking at more or less all the 4200s and Quattroportes that come on to the market...

It looks nice, but the lowering and spacers make it look a bit too after market at the rear where the wheel looks to stick out too much.
In my opinion dark wheels don't help it either, I think they cheapen cars, though going even a little lighter on that shade of grey car could be a mistake. I'd have stuck with silver.
I'm not convinced I'd want to be buying a modified Maserati though, does that thought change once you've owned one as it does with other cars? ;)

Other than that, I love the grey and the light interior...

Personally I tend to keep my cars standard or close too, uprated brakes & or exhaust are normally my only concession to modifications.

If you are going down the modified route it needs to be planned and each step considered. I learnt this the hard way with my 155 Q4 and now am in a process of unpicking a lot of the changes and starting again with a proper plan with an defined end point.

25mm spacers! There was a powerflow exhaust fitted to my E30 when I bought it - it was one of the first things to be removed from the car - absolute sh1t quality and an awful noise. They're bargain basement exhausts for the Halfords brigade.

Too much for me, I prefer it in standard trim to that one. Maybe it's just because the wheels are black but it looks super spaced to my eyes

Maybe a little too spaced but I don't think it looks bad at all and seems to be tastefully done and nothing that cant be put back to normal if you want to blend in with the herd!
