Not had the nerve with the state of the roads round here.

Well that is the thing, you are telling it "give me all you have got baby!"
I honestly thought I would have been in the minority with more a case of "you've never used kick down?!!" apparently not!

Yes indeed. Straight piece of road, start of a dual carriage way, rolling along in 5th, kicked down, instantly into 3rd and off like a rocket. Glad I was forewarned so I could lift off while still legal :)

Sounds like you're driving your cars like a bunch of namby-pambys! If you need some electronics to do a better job of maximising your acceleration then you really are in trouble!!

 Not used to all these gadgets after 6 years in a TVR - 'driver aids' meant asking someone to help you get the roof out of the boot if it started raining.

I tried this yesterday and its got be my new favourite "must do everytime" thing. I do have the Larinis and the sound is already very loud and addictive, but the double-tap and the sound that followed sent a chill down my spine! Excellent, Excellent find. Thanks Mike.:excellent:

I tried it yesterday but tbh I couldn't tell the difference between using auto and just knocking it down a couple of gears.
Must be doing something wrong?
Seemed to accelerate just as quickly either way.

Needamaser, just to clear up some confusion that I think has arisen from my post, I would agree, I didn't notice it being faster to change than when I've done the same manually, although it was as fast. It was just a surprise to me that it was fast at all. Based on my very limited experience of the auto mode up until that point I wouldn't have been surprised if it changed down in 2 slow clunky steps checking for engagement along the way. The more I drive this car the more I realise it may be a first generation CC type system but quite a bit of thought has gone into the software, auto and manual, that only becomes apparent as you drive it more.

I just tried it as well. 50mph in 5th. Couldn't get it to go to third at all.
Fourth seemed like a quick change, but certainly no faster than what I would have done. And be under no illusions. I am no driving god. Barely a driving mortal

Kick Down is switch operated and they can go a bit off if they need adjusting for example, also make sure your mats are not under the loud pedal, or be sensible and drive it is SPORT mode and flick down the gears whilst ramming the floor, that works..!!

Eurospares doesn't show a separate switch for either 3200 or 4200. I'd have thought with fly by wire throttle it was pretty much no longer required?

Second approach certainly works :)

That was what I did. Also tried in non sport mode but most of the time once warmed up I have car in sport mode anyway.
Auto button is now redundant again!
Interesting trying it though.
