This is a long shot. Due to problems with my climate control heating not working properly ( blows cold air all the time even when dial on hot but can get hot air only on max defrost) I have sent the climate unit to a Autotronics in Leicestershire who specialise in instrument repair. Does anyone out there have a wiring diagram of the climate control unit itself they could share please?

kind regards

These heating and air con systems are the same as fitted to the early Alfa 166...you'll find more technical info on the Alfa related web sites!

I've heard this, but Felice says it's not the case :(

Would be nice if he was wrong for once, as that would open up a whole load of alternative parts.

Hmmm, I wish this was true. Looking at the climate control units on both cars, the Alfa looks completely different to the Maz. The wiring schematic of the Maz climate control unit internals appears to be as rare as hens teeth!

The *matrix* is the same as the 166, but that (I suspect) is about it.

There is a reset for these units to try before you start tearing out the dash. I did it on my GS although the dials are different on the 4200 interior. Someone who will know how to do this will be along shortly....I hope.....if not, call one of the specialists.

Thanks Catman, yeah have previously tried the reset with no joy. As for the error code, occasionally throws up A55 which I'm guessing is the heat control dial on the climate ECU. Rob

A55 is the flaps sticking. I used to get this in cold weather when the grease stiffens up

Can't help with the wiring diagram I'm afraid but experiencing the same problem. Just about every part inc the Control unit has been changed over the last few years.Got it sorted for a while but problem now returned. Maserati dealer can't fix it. Up until the last visit to the garage I was able to change the temperature by switching off the car and adjusting to the required temperature then restarting. Now I'm only getting Cold air even on max defrost. It's going back in again in a few weeks. If It gets sorted will let you know. Also if Autotronics fix yours please let me know. Good luck

If the system is anything like that fitted to the 360/F430 then it is possible to test the vast majority of the system using an SD2/3. Temperature problems on Ferraris are usually down to the TGK valve going bad.

Problem solved by Autotronics in Leicester. It was a microprocessor chip in the climate comtrol unit. Apparently when the hot/cold dial is turned the micro chip is meant to convert this to a digital output but mine had broken down. New chip installed for price of £90 + vat. Beats paying £600 for a new unit!
