4200 CC vs 4200 CC Facelift

I'm after a facelift CC 4200 for my first Maser.

However, there seems to be a bit of a shortage of good ones about at the moment.
And there's at least 4 forum members who are also the same thing.

So what are the differences between the two?
And are they significant enough to justify an additional (in some cases) 10k price tag of a facelift over the original?

From when I was looking it was the front and rear bumpers, which includes the deeper front grill on the facelift, the colour of the dash dials speedo ect, are blue and silver, comparred to just silver on the classico. Appraently the software is different on the later facelifts, to match the gransport, although i have also been told the the classico's can have the software upgrdaded to match the early facelifts,

I am sure there might be other stuff.

10k? No way!
Bumpers are different on the facelift, using GS items without the lower front bumper extension fitted to the GS.
Minor central console modifications incorporating a drinks holder.
Change of gearbox ecu, although many believe the first classico cars to be a more sporting gear shift and drive having owned both.
Thats it really, a few other minor changes like any car throughout its production run.
That's why condition is more important than year, good and bad across all model years.

i strongly believe that the differences are very small. My priority would be to find a well kept car, rather than pre/facelift. Bumpers is a matter of taste. Software changes are not that important, apart from the very early cc which was very hard.
Back in 2010 my classico was voted the most desireble car at the maserati international meeting.mine won against a lot of gransports and granturismos. What i realised is that performance comes second, cause first comes condition, as long as colour combination.
Hope this helps.

The differences are significant in the drive and particularly the gearchange, but they're not £10000 apart, more like £3k for a 2004/54 which are the only comparable cars. There is a pre-facelift 54 plate for sale for £1k less than a facelift car at present with similar miles. A 2005 car with say 30000 miles would be around £20k and an 04MY car with same miles around £17-18k so a £2-3k difference. Some of which can be attributed to the fact that it's a newer car. It's also not possible to value Maseratis from online adverts, there's a lot that can't be found out until you view it.

Check out the Eurospares website to see the number of parts that have a different code or are superseded on the classic shape.

I prefer the 1st gens front and rear bumbers btw

Just put this up on a new thread, it was, and pretty sure still is, a good car:

I am aware there's a few folk out there looking for a cheap facelift 4200. I sold this car to the gentleman who is now selling, it was a lovely example then and it's been maintained at MD and Emblem so will still be in good nick. He's done about 25000 miles in the car in 30 months since he bought it hence the bills but still be a good deal for someone. Lovely chap too:

Yeah- I saw that earlier - Bit of a poor advert - photos wise I think - I sort of dismissed it straight away - as its silver as well!

It's Argento Luna, rare special order colour and looks stunning in the flesh, don't dismiss Grigio Chiarro either as that's lovely when kept in good condition.

Cant really see the interior colour either - think the price is possibly a bit heavt for the miles as well.

It's a facelift car which has covered 5700 miles per annum, had loads of maintenance and recent service and MOT, good clutch. I'd say you don't get much more for £17k if it's still as good as it was.

Ok dicky - found your post - is it like a moonstone colour?
Knowing it as you do would you still get it inspected?
Interior looks good in your pics from when you sold it.

If the carpets and the full frontal shot is anything to go by, I'd say the seats are maybe tan..??

If the seller is willing to release the details to you, Emblem will give you the cars history.

It's light grey, like these:

Not nearly as dark as this:

Safrane is bob on re Emblem, it'll be a detailed report and I'd buy without an inspection so long as that was recent, but I nearly always have to!
