4200 aircon AA44 code

I have strange behaviour of HVAC system - when it's on max cold AC runs fine but change one step up affect in max heat.

I try to reset HVAC system but this don't give any effect.

Dahsboard display shows AA44 code after reset but I don't know what this mean, anyone can help ?

I have E4 and very similar symptoms. Unless I manually adjust the fan speed right down I have max demist fan and full temp with the max light lit up on the direction setting knob and the rear screen demist too. I have fitted a replacement control unit but this has made no difference. Thanks for the chart Catman but can anyone explain what it actually means...what is a checksum error in the knob setting data and what/where is sensor SA? my dash is in bits and has been for several weeks now as I have struggled with this problem. At least Ive had the dashtop leather re-glued whilst it was off. BTW when I press the recirc and econ buttons at same time neither of them flashes and whichever is pressed first stays engaged. the system does appear to go through the error check process though and if I unplug the dashtop temp sensor I get E......

any and all suggestions much appreciated its so annoying to be missing this great driving weather.

Well AA44 indicates (I think) the ambient temp sensor in the cabin. It's behind the slotted piece sort of by the driver's knee.

But not very useful.

The checksum data indicates (I think) that the flaps are sticking and don't match the knob position.

Problem is those initials are Italian transations!
