had no power put a boost gauge on to find it was only boosting at 8psi .. if you look at the T/B to the left there is a valve with 3 small pipes on make a note of what pipe go's where and remove this valve there is a black plug on it remove this plug cut it off and fit bullet connectors (red ones fit well) clean off the valve you mite as well test it at this point so jut put a 12v feed to it it will give a good click sound if it dont get a new one ! refit valve now boost is up at 15psi+
(what it is well it vents off air to the wastgates so you get the boost you car needs) if it falls you will not no as no light will pop up and no codes will be there and your car will be down on power and you mite not even no so give it ago DSC_0178.jpg:numberone:

Nice one lee....It looks like the conector block has been damp for some time looking at the corrosion

Nice write up, Lee!

Glad to hear you can get all tail-happy now...those things need launch control for any gear up to 3rd, especially in the kind of weather in london tonight...

Yes, a top bit of info, I'll be checking the condition of mine.

Glad you got it sorted Lee, and it was a simple enough fix in the end.
The Golfs won't stand a chance.

Lee,
Was there no shroud on the bottom of this to stop water ingress, if so that's a bad design issue and very well spotted by you.

Just to give this a bump as I have recently had a potential issue related to this Pierburg valve and it could well have been the electrical side of it rather than the vaccum pipework coming into it. I called Eurospares this morning in order to make an order for a new one and they don't stock them or cannot get them anymore. I assume there is a alfa/lancia/fiat equivalent of this valve?

You know I had the same conversation with Meridian about a suspension bush; Maserati are not making a lot of parts for the 3200 now, which is a real shame and will make looking after them in the future difficult. Let's hope someone starts to make replacements....

OEM parts by law have to be manufactured for 10 years after the car goes out of production...looks like Maserati my be looking the other way.

Something needs to be done as I am 99% sure that I need a new Pierburg valve and no one seems to stock it in the UK. Grrrrrrrr

Hi

You should try contacting Mcgrath Maserati and Dick Lovett in Swindon both of whom carry 3200 spares. I also obtained a clutch once when stocks were out from Holland, google maseratispares and you will find the web site, they were very helpful so drop them a email and they will respond to advise if they have stock.

We'll I say not far I popped over there in my lunch hour and back so not too bad. I very rarely go to the office as I am in the air most of the time and when I'm not I tend to work from my home office as it is so much more comfortable and productive. You may have seen our office on top gear, you know the one in Farnborough....
