3200GT rear lower control arms issue

Hi nick, do you also need to get another part(s) so that you could fit the control arms? I wonder if there is/are other parts to be ordered as well

No, the only thing I changed from the parts provided were the track rod ends, I got a set from Craig W in the USA and had those fitted instead of the ones that come with the arms. Looking at your photos it looks like the problem is the mounting point on the sub frame being too shallow to take the newer, thicker arm. I'm afraid I can't get under my car until the weekend to see how it was fitted and take a photo that might help, my car is a year newer than yours, maybe they changed these mounts?

When you fit new arms you have to re shim the suspension both to get correct the wheel camber and also to take up any slack between the bottom bracket and the bushe, .if this is done I would say the arms will fit.

Do I need to buy the bracket as well? Photos attachedView attachment 33245

To my eye the strengthening gusset has not been welded in quite the right place here, it sticks out too far on the left. It would be interesting if any other 3200s have better looking forks. It looks like you are only a couple of millimeters away from it fitting fine.

Sorry again for my ignorance. If I buy the brackets(fork?) from Eurospares for the Patent control arm, they should fit each other?

If I were you I would send those latest photos to Eurospares and get them to check some of their pattern control arms with the forks they have in stock. Hopefully you have just been unlucky and have some poorly made forks on your car, but if not then we might find that these pattern parts are not the answer to the expensive Maserati part that we were hoping they would be.

Eurospares list the 3200 forks but you have to look in the bodywork and lighting section, not the suspension section!

My mechanic is now looking to bring the control arm to the machinery shop to
Make it a little bit smaller so that it fits to the existing bracket/fork to solve the problem. We get you all posted

We was wondering if to order genuine of repro ones for the massi. This thread confirms we will be ordering genuine ones.

I would be more inclined to modify the fork, but it's your car

Attached is a picture showing the fork and original wishbone on my 3200. As you can see from the photo the gap between wishbone and fork bracket is very tight so if the pattern wishbones are a lot thicker and you have brackets which has the strengthening plate welded in with a gap then the pattern wishbones might not fit without modification. It will as others have suggested depend on each individual case, mine is an early 2000 reg car model 1023 it would be nice to see if Maserati modified the fork bracket on later cars, perhaps someone with a 2001 car could take a photo.

Personally I think I'd order 4 new forks from Eurospares but get them to check they fit the pattern control arms before they post them. Suspension is too important to mess about with.
