Hi Gents,
Apologize if this had been discussed in another thread.
Recently I purchased a left and right rear lower control arms
for my 1999 3200GT from Eurospares and the garage told me they are not the same as the old ones.
Please see photos attached if they are actually difference or special tools or
Parts are required to assemble them on the car.

Your help is appreciated image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg

Eurospares are now making Pattern parts I believe. Why they would change the dimensions or shape I don't fully understand. I know visually they look different but that is quite a big difference!

Maserati changed the design of the rear wishbone on the early 4200s to the new shape you have there. The new design were compatible with the earlier models according to other threads on here so you should be okay as long as the key dimensions are the same, buy don't take my word for it! I presume the apparent difference in length is just an illusion from the photos. Are those the £395 pattern part from Eurospares? If so then the photos are really interesting because they show how much thicker the pattern part is around the bush area, a well documented weak spot, compared to the OEM part. They also look much better finished in that area.

Yes, it looks much better and with higher quality materials but it won't fit in!
That's the problem
I wonder it's not just me who order this part and seems no one had any installation problem

When you say it won't fit in, where is it that it doesn't fit? Is the problem the size of the inner bushes not going into the forks or at the outer ball joint?

For me the 20mm does seem a bit of an issue, I don't think I'd want to have different types on either side of the car.... Worth a chat with ES over that at least.

taking rough measurements from your first photo it looks as though the key dimension are the same. Can you explain in more detail which bit is stopping them from going on the car? Is it because the thickness around the bush area is preventing it from going into the mounting bracket on the car? Perhaps a photo or two showing why would help.

Claudio of Eurospares just replied by email that he had sold a lot to 3200/4200 owners and they all fit ok!
But as you all could see they are difference. Any suggestion?

Even if you did manage to fit that new part in your camber would change significantly, for the worse.

I'm still not convinced that there is a 20mm difference. I think that is an optical illusion because one wishbone is on top of the other in the photo. If you, look at the first photo and measure them, the two seem to be the same length, allowing for the fact that the ball joint pin on the new arm isn't pointing straight out. onlinesys, can you confirm this and explain more about why it won't fit?

Garage reckons they could use the machinery to amend the control arm and make it fit but will
There be issue on camber as voicey said?

I tend to agree looking at the length. More detail needed!

I just had a set of these fitted, no problem to my 3200. Car fully aligned after fitting. QV London did the work.

Hi nick, do you also need to get another part(s) so that you could fit the control arms? I wonder if there is/are other parts to be ordered as well
