3200GT Gear Knob?

Hello 3200GT owners

As some of you may have noticed there is a group buy for the 4200 replacement gearknob in CNCd from aluninium in a very similar style to the original leather bound item. https://www.sportsmaserati.com/index.php?threads/4200-replacement-pattern-gearknob-group-buy.32878/

I have had a number of enquiries to add a 3200GT variant shifter onto the group buy - this is possible but we require additional information or ideally a sample of the original 3200 shifter. I understand these are as scarce as the 4200 shifter now.

From what I understand there are a few differences, reverse gear in top left and there are three grub screws that retain the shifter into the shaft of the shifter - this is fine but we ideally require dimensions etc.

Also is there a reverse lifter to get into R like in the 4200 - guessing not(?)

Finally is anyone willing to lend me a 3200 shifter - condition is not important. I can pay for it as long as it is not several hundreds of pounds - the cost of it will be offset onto the 3200GT gearknob group buy - if it takes off.

Yes I may have one available that is in need of retrimming.
There is no lifter, It’s simply a knob with the three screws.

Cf would be nice like the AC

I have seen a photo of the Carbon AC shifter and it only appears to have a carbon cap where the H gate is and the sides are still leather bound

What we are working on is a CNC item from aluminum, we are not getting involved in custom surface finishing so you can send it off yourself and get it done how you want I was thinking black anodised or hydro dipped with a carbon weave would look good

an Auto one would be good too, as these are leather trimmed and now 20 years old, and not as swish as they were new!!

Would you want one in aluminium though?

I have looked at some photos of the Auto shifter - does it have any moving parts such as a button to press in order to shift from P to D/etc. or is it just... a knob?

not sure, depends if it's nicely done. And sadly yes there is a lifter button but its possible we could just replace the top part of it which has no buttons. I may have a look and see whether they are separate parts. I have a feeling I have taken the knob off before and it just pulls off, I may be wrong though.

Some progress on this with an offer to have a shifter lent to us for the purposes of analysis.

Just wondering what the interest would be in terms of numbers from within the 3200GT community?

So far I have had around 5 people enquire to me about this via the 4200 group buy links. Ideally 20 shifters which is similar to the 4200 numbers will put us in a great position.

I can take one onto stock to help start a list
