3200 Wheels

Hi,

I am thinking of changing the wheels on my Black 3200 and was looking for some advice. The car currently has the standard wheels in silver which gives a nice contrast to the body colour - it also has a newish set of Pirelli's.

Although I like the current look I fancy trying something different but would keep the current wheels for if / when I want to return it to standard. Initially I was thinking about getting another set of the standard wheels and having them finished in a dark grey / graphite colour with some diff tyres for comparison etc.

Having removed a standard wheel a while back due to a split sidewall I was shocked at how heavy they were and wondered if maybe the later wheels might be lighter? Were these on the AC?

Any advice would be appreciated, I would prefer proper Maserati wheels but maybe after market might be a better option? Maybe a set of Momo's?

I really like the GS wheels and would love some on my 3200. Would look the business just like GS but with boomerangs :D

With possibly the exception of the Torfo split rims are all the coupe wheels the same weight?

I vote for GS wheels but I am biased.

If you go aftermarket, anything you want but 5 spokes. I promise you won't be disappointed!

I have to say I like both the AC and GS wheels.

I think either would be a better option in graphite than the current type fitted to the car (probably). Wheels are such a key thing and really can enhance or spoil the look or a car. Also I gave the car a clean over the weekend and it is not as if the current wheels spoil or let the car down in anyway.

It normally takes we a while to decide on things like this - it took ages for me to pick wheels for the Capri but never regretted the choice.

Not totally sure of the Khan approach, I seem to remember seeing a khan Lamborghini on something and the guy talked as if they were like Touring, Ghia etc but seemed a bit more like ripspeed - not that that is necessarily a problem.

If you happen to decide to stick with the original design, but in a different colour/finish, I have a spare set in my garage that I'd be happy to sell.

Many thanks for the advise which has given me a bit to think about. I will probably go for a Maserati wheel unless something sensible and lighter catches my eye.

All three (although I will be fitting four) wheels are nice and look right on the car. Also many thanks for to Philw696 and Ewan for the offer which I will bare in mind when / if I make my mind up.

Obviously I don't want the car to look like I am trying to make it look like something it isn't.

I quite like the GS wheels and have thought about a set for the Spyder but I also like the classic understated look it currently has. Decisions decisions.

I think the way to go with wheels is to darken them ever so slightly like Gunmetal as the silver ones make them look a little dated. Mine being grigio could very well suit gunmetal alloys with red calipers! Decisions Decisions!

The AC wheel is like a gunmetal, I can't remember what the colour is, but there is an old thread on here that gives it..!!
